PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS 2015 FORMAT
All players will play each other over the best of 12 legs. Winners will receive 2 points, and if a game finishes 6-6 they will each take 1. The bottom 2 will be eliminated on week 9 in Manchester and the remaining 8 players will play a second run of fixtures. After week 15, the top 4 will progress to the O2 Arena in London where the Fab 4 will fight to be crowned Champions of the 11th Premier League season.PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS 2015 FAVOURITES
Reigning champion is the Dutchman Raymond Van Barneveld. The fairly short format is very suited to him as fatigue and stamina should not be an issue.
Michael Van Gerwen - who won the Unibet Masters in Milton Keynes last weekend, is the favourite #1. MVG won the Premier League 2 years ago, was runner up last year, and on both cases has topped the regualar season league table.
All eyes will be on the new PDC World Champion Gary Anderson, who won this tournament in 2011. A beaten semi-finalist in last weekend's Unibet Masters, Anderson looks unbeatable when he is on fire. The Scotsman has both the form and confidence capable of continuing his impressive recent head-to-head record.
Phil Taylor made a dismal start to last year’s Premier League, losing four of his opening five games including a 7-0 whitewash against Van Gerwen. But The Power recovered to reach the semifinals with an impressive run of victories. He was second to Anderson at Alexandra Palace last month after an epic battle in the final.
James Wade will be looking to overcome the disappointment of suffering a very early exit at the recent PDC World Championship. He won the Premier League in 2009 and was runner-up in 2010 but was controversially dropped from last year's competition.
Adrian Lewis has been an ever present since 2007. He was losing finalist in the Players Championships in December and was knocked out by van Barneveld at the World Championship.
Ex-BDO world champion and PDC quarter-finalist Stephen Bunting will be on his first appearance in the Premier League. The Bullet had a sensation debut year in the PDC being awarded newcomer of the year, and saw him rise to World number 24.
Peter Wright isn't playing at the same level as he was 12 months ago. missed out on the play-offs in his debut season, but has since failed to produce anything like his top form and knows he has a point to prove here.
Kim Huybrechts is capable of competing for a top-four spot if he can add some consistency to their game. He is a former Players Championship Finals runner-up and has won three of his last four encounters against Van Gerwen. So he can beat everyone.
The final man in the 10 strong field is Dave Chisnall. He is a high scoring player but starts as rank outsider despite his big 180 hitting skills. Chizzy claimed the most 180s last year in the league, with 64 – nine more than any of the top four finishers. We are sure he can upset big names during the competition.
