TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 11 BETTING PREVIEW
This stage looks benign, with a single category climb, Cote de Cherveux, 91 kilometres into the stage followed by the Intermediate Sprint in Les Grands Ajoncs (108km).The final three kilometres in Poitiers do have some elevation gain, including the Pont Neuf across the River Clain. Anyway, the stage ends with a straight 1.5km chute to the finish line.
Assuming there are no crashes, there should be no major changes to the General Classification. Instead, it will be an important day Green Jersey contenders since Sam Bennett took back the jersey by winning Stage 10 and now leads Sagan by 21 points.
Stage 11 Favorites
After taking fourth, second and third in previous stages, Sam Bennett won stage 10 at Île de Ré ahead of Caleb Ewan and Peter Sagan. These three riders will be the main contenders and we will not be surprised to see them occupying all the podium again.
With two wins Wout Van Aert is the most successful sprinter in this Tour de France but he is not allowed to sprint everyday since Jumbo Visma's priority is to keep Primoz Roglic in yellow. Anyway, we expect the young German to be in the mix as there shouldn't be echelons.
Team Sunweb seems to be getting its act together in support of Cees Bol although the Dutchman failed to impress so far, so keep an eye on the Sunweb's sprinter as well.
Who can upset the favorites?
Not so many riders actually. Alexander Kristoff is the only sprinter able to beat the top contenders so far (on the very first stage) while Elia Viviani's best result is a 6th place and Andrè Greipel doesn't win a stage at the TDF since 2016.Bryan Coquard, Niccolò Bonifazio, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Hugo Hofstetter, Luka Mezgec and Mads Pedersen simply don't have the legs to worry Ewan, Bennett and Van Aert in a regular sprint.
