TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 14 BETTING PREVIEW
Like Stage 13, It's another day for the breakaway. There are three categorised climbs in the first 93 kilometres, then the final two come with just 12.5km to go.The significant climbs of the day come in the first half of the stage, meaning there could still be a chance for brave riders to escape.
The race will be decided in the last 10 kilometers as the riders will reach the top of the Côte de la Duchère after a 1.6 kilometres climb at 5.6% and the Côte de la Croix-Rousse, a 1.8 kilometres climb at 4.8%. After a fast decent, the last 2km are flat.
Stage 14 Top Contenders
This parcour is ideal for puncheurs like Peter Sagan, Wout Van Aert and Julian Alaphilippe. The Slovakian is still looking for the first stage win at this Tour and for green jersey points.The Jumbo's youngster has already won two stages but he could be required to help Primoz Roglic, the current yellow jersey, rather than look for personal glory.
Alaphilippe will be suited by the course, but he's looked lacklustre in recent stages and wasted a lot of energies in yesterday's breakaway.
Matteo Trentin won a similar stage into Lyon in 2013 and isn't far behind the favourites in the puncheur stakes.
Greg Van Avermaet is another rider with excellent climbing skill on this kind of ascents and he can outsprint most others on a such a final.
Marc Hirschi had a quiet day on Stage 13, probably because he has target this stage. Given his form, he can't be overlooked.
