The 15th Stage, a 174km run from Lyon to the Grand Colombier, is tough a day with over 3,500 metres of climbing and on the hardest summit finish so far of the Tour. TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 15 BETTING PREVIEW

The Tour has finally arrived on the Alps. The last 110 kilometres of the stage include the Selle de la Fromentel (9.3km at 7.1% with pitches that hit 22 percent), the Col de la Biche (10.4km with an overall average gradient of 8.4 percent) and the Grand Colombier (17.4km at 6.9% with some stretches peaking out to 12%) a steep climb with four different routes to the summit.

The question is, will an escape hang out in front, or will the favourites shut it down? We will probably see a big breakaway head off the front, and it could go the distance - similar to what we saw on Stage 13 on the Puy Mary.

Stage 15 Favorites

Primoz Roglic is the red hot favorite should his team keep the race tight and control the breakaway. He won a very similar stage recently at the Tour de l'Ain, beating msot of today's rivals.

Tadej Pogacar seems to be the best climber in the race so far, but the question remains as to how long he can sustain it, taking also into account the lack of support from this tea-mates.

The real wild cards are INEOS Grenadiers’s Egan Bernal, the defending champion, and his fellow countrymen Nairo Quintana and Rigoberto Uran. They were all waiting for this kind of climbs, so we should not overlook the Colombians.

Other GC contenders who could have a good day are Mikel Landa, Richie Porte and Miguel Angel Lopez, while we would overlook Simon Yates and Guillaume Martin.

What about the breakaway?

As we mentioned above, the likely scenario would see a winning breakway.

Men like Maximilian Schachmann and Lennard Kämna from Team Sunweb, BORA's Tiesj Benoot and Marc Hirschi, Movistar's Marc Soler, Stage 13 EF Pro Cycling's Daniel Martinez, Mitchelton-Scott's Esteban Chavez, FDJ's David Gaudu are all expected to be involved in the breakaway and the stage winner could be among them.

Thibaut Pinot is another rider to keep an eye on, should he has recovered the best form.

Julian Alaphilippe is again one of the most backed rider but honesty these climbs are too demanding for the Frenchman, who also doesn't look at the peak of his form.
