TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 10 BETTING PREVIEW
Following two brutal days in the Alps and the first rest day on Monday, the Tour de France departs the Alps on a classic transitional stage that should end in a bunch sprint. There’s just one modest climb, the Category 4 Col de Couz, which is an extended viaduct of 7.4 kilometres at 2.8%, in the first third of the stage. The battle for yellow looks over, but the fight for green is very much alive so we expect a bit of action when the riders approach to the intermediate sprint. Here, there will be a small uncategorized bump.
There are three roundabouts between 5km and 4km to go and the final kilometre is tricky, but with less sprinters in the race the bunch will be easier to control. Anyway, there is a decent chance of thunderstorms for the finish in Valence and crosswind are possible.
Stage 10 Favourites
Mark Cavendish does seem like the most likely winner. He has already recorded two wins and clearly has the strongest team for the sprint. He is the red hot favourite considering that Caleb Ewan and Arnaud Demare are no longer in the race.Alpecin-Fenix’s fastest finishers, Mathieu van der Poel and Stage 3 winner Tim Merlier, have gone home too. Hence, Jasper Philipsen will have to take advantage of other teams efforts, something that doesn't suit him.
Nacer Bouhanni looks a serious contender. In three sprints this year, he has finished second once and third twice. Sooner or later he will break his duck at the Tour De France.
With the final bend opening up at 200 to go, the team with the best sprint train has a great chance of taking this stage and Cees Bol can rely upon one of the best trains in the peloton.
Wout Van Aert should be rested after a tough weekend and doesn't have Roglic to protect anymore. He has won one or two stages at each of the last Tour and this stage could represent a good chance to see him triumphing again.
Will be there a winning breakaway?
Sonny Colbrelli is in the form of his life and has top 5 ambitions. Mads Pedersen is not in that form but he is a powerful sprinter and could be in the mix if he is in good position at the last turn.Peter Sagan, Michael Matthews and Julian Alaphilippe are good options should crosswinds rule out many pure sprinters.
Andrè Greipel, Jasper Stuyven, Davide Ballerini and Christophe Laporte are outsiders.
