BAYERN MUNICH v DORTMUND BETTING PREVIEW
Bayern Munich’s 20 match unbeaten streak (W18 D2) across all competitions was brought to an end in a tricky fixture on the road to Hoffenheim on Tuesday as the Bavarians suffered a 1-0 defeat. It was only Bayern’s second defeat in the Bundesliga this season. The Bavarians have won 10 of 13 unbeaten games at Allianz Arena this term and kept five clean sheets in their last six on their own turf. Carlo Ancelotti's men have lost their most recent direct match against BVV, 1-0 at Signal Iduna Park on November.
Robert Lewandowski had to leave the training pitch early on Thursday but he will be 100% fit for 'Der Klassiker'. The likes of Frank Ribery, Thiago Alcantara and Arjen Robben are expected to form the offensive midfield trio. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is a major doubt and could be replaced by Sven Ulrich. Defenders Jerome Boateng and Javi Martínez are in contention for a spot at centre-back while Arturo Vidal and Xabi Alonso are likely to start in the middle of the park.
Borussia Dortmund have won four of their last six games in all competitions and currently sit 4th in the standings, a huge 15 point shy of Bayern, after their comfortable victory against Hamburger SV on Tuesday. A positive result here could be very important to keep pace with Hoffenheim in the third spot though, which must be reached for direct Champions League qualification. Anyway, they have won just four of their 14 away games this term.
Julian Weigl, Shinji Kagawa, Lukasz Piszczek and Marca Bartra are all doubtful while Mario Gotze, Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle and Sebastian Rode will all miss out through injury. Bundesliga's top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will spearhead the attack with Christian Pulisic, Gonzalo Castro, Ousmane Dembele behind him. Shinji Kagawa and Julian Weigl could get the nod for the remaining spots in midfield.
