STAYERS HURDLE BETTING PREVIEW
The Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle, the leading long distance hurdle event in the national calendar, is the highlight of the third day of racing at the Cheltenham Festival. Formerly known as the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, this contest is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle run over three miles, for horses aged four years and upwards, with twelve hurdles that must be cleared and a £325,000 prize purse on offer. The weight allowance is eleven stone for four-year-olds and eleven stone ten pounds for five-year-olds and upwards.
There is an allowance of seven pounds for both mares and fillies. This year's renewal looks a very open event and many top class horses will fancy their chances of Festival glory.
And now we take a closer look at this year's Paddy Power Stayers Hurdle and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail.

Who will win the Stayers' Hurdle 2024?
TEAHUPOO has had a very light campaign since finishing fourth in the Champion Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown in April, running only once since, that when winning the Hatton's Grace at Fairyhouse in December.CRAMBO is coming off a victory over rivals Paisley Park (16/1) and Dashel Drasher in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot in December. He might not be the flashiest of horses, but he has a big engine and a big heart.
NOBLE YEATS, the 2022 Grand National winner, has recently returned to form having won the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham Trials Day on January 27, in which he also defeated Paisley Park and Dashel Drasher.
Willie Mullins' option is SIR GERHARD, winner of the 2021 Champion Bumper and 2022 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle. He won at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve, his first run over hurdles for a long time over 2m 4f.
Dark horses?
DASHEL DRASHER beat Paisley Park in this year’s renewal of the Newbury’s Long Distance Hurdle and could have top 3 ambitions.
Former dual champion, PAISLEY PARK (seventh in the Stayers’ last season and has finished runner-up in all three starts this season) looks set to represent the older brigade, along with FLOORING PORTER - who was successful here in 2021 and 2022, fourth in the race last year, and takes his chances here after three chase efforts this season - and 12-year-old SIRE DU BERLAIS (winner of the Pertemps in 2019 and 2020, and runner-up to Flooring Porter in this race three years ago) who won last year's renewal at odds of 33/1.
HOME BY THE LEE recorded two wins in a row at Navan and Leopardstown last season, including when beating Flooring Porter in the latter, but disappointed in the 2023 renewal of this race as he finished 5th after a serious mistake at the sixth obstacle. On his seasonal reappearance he finished third to Bob Olinger in the Lismullen Hurdle.
ASHDALE BOB, BLAZING KHAL and BALLYADAM could also fly the flag for Ireland while CHAMP, BUDDY ONE, ASTERION FORLONGE and JANIDIL look beaten in this company.
At the moment, the most backed horses are the following:
