The loss of key striker Radamel Falcao is a massive blow for the South Americans but they have some firepower including Porto's Jackson Martinez an Siviglia's Carlos Bacca who scored an impressive 21 goals in his first season for the Spanish team. Anyway, in the absence of Falcao, Teofilo Gutierrez, who plays for River Plate in Argentina, is expected to carry his team's goal-scoring burden against the Greeks.
Youngster Eder Balanta may well start at the back, with Zuñiga and Armero operating at wing-backs and Abel Aguilar starting in place of the suspended Fredy Guarín. Captain Mario Yepes will start at the back, despite his advanced age of 38
Colombia have found the net in 10 of their last 11 matches but it is worth noting that Greece conceded just four goals in 10 group matches during qualifying. In their three warm-up matches against Portugal, Nigeria and Bolivia, they went undefeated (1-2-0) and surrendered just one goal.
Much of the attacking threat for Greece will depend on 12 million pound Fulham striker Kostas Mitroglou, who via to his move to Fulham hit a remarkable 23 goals in 23 games for Olympiakos. Greece will likely line-up in a 4-5-1 formation, with forwards Samaras and Salpingidis playing on his flanks.
Greece (4-5-1): Karnezis; Torosidis, Papasthathopoulos, Manolas, Holebas; Salpingidis, Katsouranis, Maniatis, Kone, Samaras; Mitroglou.
