CORMIER v GUSTAFSSON: BETTING PREVIEW

Daniel Cormier (16-1), a former bronze medal in wrestling at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, lost a title fight (unanimous decision) to Jon Jones in January. The champion was involved in the hit-and-run accident and found himself suspended from the UFC. After Jones was stripped, Cormier was slotted against Anthony Johnson in a fight for the vacant title last May. Cormier beat "Rumble" in the third round through submission using a rear-naked choke.

DC is one of the best wrestlers in the light heavyweight division. He took down the aforementioned Johnson, who’s known for his takedown defense, three times last time out. The problem, however, he is very short for the division and is always at a reach and height disadvantage. Gustafsson has a six inch height and seven inch reach advantage over him. But he usually is clever enough to close the distance very fast.

Alexander Gustafsson (16-3) ranks No. 3 in the 205-pound division and also has also has a past with Jon Jones and Anthony Johnson. The Swede gave Jones his toughest test, dropping a close five-round decision to the champ two years ago. But this past January, he was unceremoniously knocked out in the first round by Johnson in Stockholm.

The challenger is a striker with length, he is s pretty mobile for his size and his lateral movement is top notch. Jones only managed to take Swedish guy down once in eleven attempts. "The Mauler” will try to stay on the outside and use his height and reach advantages so that he can throw combinations and quickly angle awayHis mission will be to keep Cormier off of him so he can shows his striking skills.
