Man City v Dortmund betting preview
Man City set numerous record last year but are missing their best players here
Man City start the pre-season after a record-breaking Premier League title victory. The Blue finished the league on 100 points, and 19 points above second-placed Manchester United. This is the first Citizens' club friendly and the previous preseason performances have shown, the Blues will likely be rusty on their opening day. These clubs met in the International Champions Cup two years ago in Shenzhen, China with Manchester City winning on penalties after a 1-1 drawClaudio Bravo, Leroy Sane, Aymeric Laporte, Joe Hart, and new signing Riyad Mahrez are the only senior members of Pep Guardiola’s young squad. BVB will use this summer as an opportunity to rebuild their squad
Borussia Dortmund strongly underperformed last year. After a series of poor performances, three managerial changes and a several player injuries, Die Schwarzgelben barely finished fourth in the Bundesliga. They start the season with a new manager, Lucien Favre formerly of Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice. Favre's men oversaw a 1-0 win over Austria Wien in his first match in charge last week and drew against Zwickau and Los Angeles FC. This extra preparation will give Dortmund manager more time to tinker with his squad.BVB will be without the likes of Marco Reus, Lukasz Piszczek, Manuel Akanji, as well as new signings Ashraf Hakimi and Thomas Delaney as they have all played the World Cup this summer.
