Italy vs Wales Betting Preview
Italy have a 100% winning record in the Group A thus far. After dismantling Turkey 3-0 in the opening match of the tournament, the Azzurri have beaten Switzerland with the same scoreline (and our experts predicted the 3-0 at 12/1!). Mancini's men are clearly the in-form team of the tournament. The Azzurri have won their last 10 games without conceding any goals (they have scored 31) and are unbeaten in 29 games. Should they draw or win this match, Mancini's Italy would equal the record streak of 30 games without defeats obtained between 1935 and 1939 by the legendary manager Vittorio Pozzo.Wales collected one draw and one defeat in their first two games. After a 1-1 defeat against Switzerland in the opening round, the Welsh team defeated Turkey 2-0, despite a missed penalty by Gareth Bale (who provided two assists). The Dragons, therefore, can still clinch the first place in the Group A should they beat the Azzurri. Probably, Rob page's men will be more than happy to collect a draw here and mathematically secure the runner-up berth in the group (Switzerland have 1 point, Turkey lost both games so far).
Best Odds
Italy are 8/15 with Boylesports, with Wales at 8/1 with Betvictor to claim victory in the match. A draw is priced at 3/1 with Betfred.
Probable Line-Ups
Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Acerbi, Emerson; Verratti, Cristante, Barella; Bernardeschi, Belotti, ChiesaMancini will make wholeslae changes to his starting line-up, changing at least five players compared to the line-up that started against Switzerland. The first change will be forced: Giorgio Chiellini has a muscle problem and will be replaced by Francesco Acerbi. Emerson should replace Leonardo Spinazzola on the left while Leonardo Bonucci and Giovanni Di Lorenzo should retain their berth. In midfield, the only player retaining his berth will be Nicolò Barella. Bryan Cristante and the returning Marco Verratti should take the place of Manuel Locatelli and Jorginho. Up front, there will be a whole new offensive trio with Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi outsiout wide, Andrea Belotti as centre forward.
Wales (3-4-3): Ward; Mepham, Rodon, Gunter; Roberts, Williams, Morrell, Allen; Bale, Wilson, James
Welsh manager Rob Page could also make changes to his side. Center forward Kieffer Moore should be benched and make room for Harry Wilson. It will therefore be Gareth Bale who will play as a false nine, with Dan James out wide. Chris Gunter should partner Chris Mepham and Joe Rodon in a three-man backline with Neco Williams and Connor Roberts starting as wing backs. Joe Allen and Joe Morrell will anchor the midfield. The likes of Ben Davies and Aaron Ramsey provide further options on the flanks and in the middle of the park respectively.
Italy v Wales Predictions
In addition to being a very talented and dynamic team from midfield upwards, Italy looks rock solid: the backline allowed only one shot on target against Turkey and Switzerland. With a lot of new additions, this will be the litmus test to test the depth of the squad available to Mancini and we will understand if the Azzurri can go deep in the tournament. In our opinion, Italy will beat Wales but it will not be a spectacular victory as the first two. The 1-0 and 2-0 are our favourite correct scores. Among the goalscorers, take a look at Federico Chiesa, eager to shine after being benched.
