How to watch Switzerland v Turkey

Switzerland vs Turkey is scheduled for a 5pm BST kick-off on Sunday, June 20, 2021. The match, played in Baku (Azerbaijan) will be televised on ITV for free. UK viewers will be able to watch the match online via the ITV Hub.

Switzerland vs Turkey Betting Preview

Switzerland have followed up a 1-1 draw in their opening match against Wales, with a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of group leaders Italy. La Nati could still secure second place in the group if they beat Turkey and Wales lose to Italy, even if they will also need goal difference to swing in their favour. Ranked 13th in the world, Switzerland had won six games in a row coming into these Championships - in a run which stretched back to last November.

Turkey also suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Italy in their opening game. Then the Turks produced a lacklustre performance when losing 2-0 to Wales last time out. Senol Gunes’s side only chance of qualifying is to beat the Swiss team and hope that is enough to see them go through as one of the four best third-place sides (despite having no points and no goals). Defense remains a concern despite they were rock solid in qualifying - Turkey conceded just three times during qualifying and kept eight clean sheets throughout the 10-game process.

Best Odds

Swtizerland are at 18/25 to get the victory with STS on Sunday, with Turkey 9/2 with Betfred to come away with the victory. A draw is priced at 16/5 with Unibet.

Probable Line-Ups

Switzerland (3-4-1-2): Sommer; Elvedi, Schar, Akanji; Mbabu, Freuler, Xhaka, Rodriguez; Shaqiri; Embolo, Gavranovic

Vladimir Petkovic started the same XI against both Wales and Italy but could make changes here. Mario Gavranovic will get the nod over Haris Seferovic up front, with Breel Embolo retaining his berth. Xherdan Shaqiri will again start behind two strikers, as well as Remo Freuler and Granit Xhaka in midfield. Substitute Steven Zuber had their only shot on target against Italy and is pushing for a stard. Furthermore, highly-rated midfielder Denis Zakaria is another possibility, should Vladimir Petkovic seek to freshen things up in the centre of the park.

Turkey (4-2-3-1): Cakir; Celik, Demiral, Soyuncu, Muldur; Ayhan, Tufan; Calhanoglu, Under, Yazici; Yilmaz

Turkey manager Senol Gunes is expected to play with a more offensive system. Burak Yilmaz will spearhead the attack as usual, with Hakan Calhanoglu and  Cengiz Under supporting the lone striker again. Both Irfan Kahveci and the versatile Kaan Ayhan are therefore in contention to return to the first XI. At the back, Umut Meras should be replaced by Mert Muldur.

Switzerland v Turkey Predictions

A draw would probably send both Turkey and Switzerland tumbling out of the tournament, as a result we expect a more open game in the 2nd half. Turkey have been underwhelming so far, so we expect a narrow win for Switzerland. Borussia Monchengladbach forward Breel Embolo shone versus Wales and he could score the deciding goal (he is good at counter-attacking).
