Group D Betting Preview
France, considered the second favorite in the outright winner market, aims to redeem themselves after a disappointing exit at Euro 2020. Despite their early elimination against Switzerland on penalties, Les Blues are the best national team of the last decade, having reached the final in three out of their last four major tournaments.
Under the guidance of manager Didier Deschamps, the French team showcased their dominance in the Euro qualifiers. They remained unbeaten with an impressive record of 7 wins and 1 draw in a group that included Netherlands, Greece, The Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar.
Led by Kylian Mbappé, their formidable squad leaves little room for weaknesses in terms of quality.
Expectations are high for France as they embark on another relentless campaign. Their ultimate fate could potentially be determined by a tantalizing clash against England.
The Netherlands are second favorite behind France. The Oranje secured their place in Euro 2024 as runners-up in their qualifying group. Finishing just 4 points behind group winners France, they outperformed Greece, the Republic of Ireland, and Gibraltar with six victories and two defeats. The Dutch team displayed their attacking prowess by scoring 17 goals while conceding only 7.
Manager Ronald Koeman aims to lead the Netherlands to semi-finals at least. However, their track record against top-tier opponents leaves room for improvement. The Oranje have struggled in knockout games since their semi-final run in 2004. In 2020, they were eliminated in the first knockout round by the Czech Republic after failing to qualify for the competition in 2016.
Once again, uncertainty surrounds the enigmatic Dutch team's prospects at Euro 2024. They possess the ability to triumph over any opponent but are also susceptible to shocking defeats against lower-ranked rivals.
Poland secured their place in Euro 2024 through a resounding victory in their playoff Group A after finishing third in their original qualifying group behind Czech Republic and Albania. They hammered Estonia with a resounding 5-1 victory in the Semi-Finals. Later, they sealed their fate with a nerve-wracking penalty shootout triumph against Wales following a goalless draw in regular time. Astonishingly, they didn't even manage a single shot on target throughout the 120 minutes of play.
They have failed to progress from the group stages on six out of eight occasions and finished rock-bottom five times. Their recent record shows only two victories from their previous fourteen big tournament matches. With another group-stage exit looming, it seems that talisman Robert Lewandowski may bid farewell to international football on a bittersweet note.
Austria secured their spot in Euro 2024 as runners-up in their qualifying group by just one point behind Belgium. They amassed an impressive record of six wins, one draw and one defeat against Belgium itself along with Sweden, Azerbaijan and Estonia respectively. They netted total of seventeen goals while conceding only seven.
As to their Euro 2020 campaign, Austria managed to progress past group stage of major tournament for first time since 1982 but suffered a penalty shootout loss against eventual champions Italy.
The appointment of Ralf Rangnick as manager in April 2022 revitalised the nation. Since the beginning of 2023, Austria have played 12 games (including friendlies), and have been defeated just once – beating Germany and Italy in that time.
We believe that Austria will battle with Netherlands for the 2nd spot in this group.

Euro 2024 Group D Predictions
Only a major shock will stop France to top this group while the battle for the runner-up berth should be fierce. We back Austria to get the nod over Netherlands (who will qualify as one of the best third-placed teams) while Poland is likely to finish bottom of the group once again.
Will Netherlands progress to the knockout stage?
The Netherlands have failed to win a knockout game in this competition since reaching the semi-finals in 2004. On paper, they are second only to France but the Oranje have regularly disappointed whenever they have faced solid opposition and may find Austria as their main competitor for the runner up berth. Anyway, four of the six third placed teams will qualify for the knock-out stage, giving Netherlands a concrete possibility to escape the group at 2/9 with Betfred.
Will France win all three group stage matches?
Austria and Netherlands can surely take points against France in the group stage but this outcome requires the Blues to strongly underperform. A recent 0-0 draw against Canada in International Friendly suggest that France can be a slow starter and fail to take maximum points from their three group stage games.
Group D Fixtures & Venues
Group D matches will be played at Wembley Stadium and Hampden Park, giving home advantage to both Poland and Netherlands. The direct encounter between these two nations will be held in London. Anyway, Netherlands will hope that playing in Glasgow will give them the edge over Austria and France.
