FRANCE v IRELAND BETTING PREVIEW France impressed in a 32–10 triumph over Italy and never needed to get out of second gear to beat 38-11 Romania and 41-18 Canada. Freddie Michalak was their most influential player in the vital opening win against the Italians, contributing 19 points. The fly-half was also in fine form against Canada with Guirado among five try scorers. Les Blues have won five in a row for the first time under Philippe Saint-André.
Coach Philippe Saint-Andre have recalled No 8 Louis Picamoles and wing Noa Nakaitaci. Damien Chouly moves to openside to accommodate Picamoles at the back of the scrum while Nakaitaci takes the place of Remy Grosso on the right wing.
Ireland made short work of Canada and Romania and then recorded a hard fought 16-9 win over Italy which sealed their passage into the quarter finals. But they were not so impressive last time out against the Azzurri, as it needed a try-saving tackle from Peter O’Mahony to prevent an embarrassing loss.
Joe Schmidt has made three changes to his team. There are two changes in the pack, with Cian Healy replacing Jack McGrath at loosehead, and Devin Toner coming in for Iain Henderson in the second row. In the backs, Rob Kearney is restored at full-back in place of Simon Zebo.
Ireland have a poor record against the French in World Cups, having faced them three times, won none of them and losing all three matches by more than 20 points. Anyway, this is a tough game to call. Over the past 6 encounters on average 3 points have separated the teams.
