GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS v CLEVELAND CAVALIERS NBA FINALS BETTING PREVIEW

The format for the NBA Finals went back to the 2-2-1-1-1 format last season. Under the old 2-3-2 format, the home edge could be flipped more dramatically if the higher seed lost one of the first two at home, so this year Golden State's home advantages ie even greater.

The Warriors are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1975, which was also the last time that they won an NBA title since the franchise moved to the Bay Area. They are a group with terrific chemistry and their record in the NBA play-offs is a stunning 12-3 so far. The Warriors had the best record in the regular season, have this year’s MVP (Stephen Curry), and Executive of the Year (Bob Myers).

In the post-season, they advanced past the New Orleans Pelicans 4-0 in the 1st round, then they beat Memphis 4-2 and reached the Finals with a 4-1 series win over the Houston Rockets.

Of course, Stephen Curry is the star but he has a very good supporting cast. Thompson crushed an NBA record this year by scoring a ridiculous 37 points in a quarter versus Sacramento and Andrew Bogut is the Warriors able center, known for his defense, rebounding and passing skills. Curry and Thompson combine to score 48.9 points per game this postseason, accounting for almost half of what the entire team manages per game (104.3). Their bench is smart, rugged and dependable, led by Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Festus Ezeli

The Cavaliers had an impressive season as they began their 2015 campaign with draft pick Number 1 finishing with a 53-29 record in the Central Division . Cleveland come into the NBA Finals riding a seven-game win streak. They have won 12 of 14 playoff games and their defense has allowed a playoff-low 92.6 points per game. LeBron James is looking for his third NBA title, his first in Cleveland and will be well supported by J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Matthew Dellavedova, all players that could all catch fire from three.

They beat Boston Celtics 4-0 in the 1st round of their post-season, then they continued to impress in seeing off the Chicago Bulls 4-2 and the Atlanta Hawks 4-0 to advance to their first NBA Finals series since 2007.

They have been without their starting power forward, Kevin Love, for nearly the entire postseason, and he will remain out through the Finals. Starting point guard Kyrie Irving has also missed major time during the playoffs and just returned in the Cavs’ final game of the previous round. He is still far from 100 percent. Tristan Thompson has stepped into the starting power forward role once Kevin Love went down and has been a big factor in the Cavs sudden defensive ascendance in the post-season.

LeBron James played in just one regular season game against Golden State. He finished with 42 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals in that game.
