Henry Cejudo (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) defends the Bantamweight Championship for the first time having won the vacant title versus Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 in June 2019. He has won five fights in a row, defeating some of the best fighters in his weight region in the process, including Wilson Reis, Sergio Pettis, Demetrious Johnson and TJ Dillashaw.

There are a number of reasons why Cejudo is the favorite to win. The most obvious factor in his favor is that he has been more active than his opponent. "The Messenger" is not all about wrestling (he is a former Olympic wrestling gold medallist). His combinations, hand speed and footwork make him a very tough fighter to deal with from a striking standpoint.

Cruz is still only 34, but the injuries could be taking a toll on him

Dominick Cruz (22-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has been away from UFC competition for more than three years. He was last seen on the octagon at UFC 207 in December 2016, when he lost his title to Cody Garbrandt ending a 12-match winning strak. Since then, Cruz has been scheduled twice – once in December 2017 and once in January 2019 - but was forced to withdraw due to injuries in both occasions. Cruz has a history of performing well after long layoffs, defeating Takega Mizugaki at UFC 178 in September 2014 having not fought for nearly three years.

Cruz wasn’t the original opponent (that was Jose Aldo) and there are concerns about whether he really prepared to step into a fight with one of the best in the sport. He will enjoy a length advantage over Cejudo (5'8" against 5'4") and also a four-inch edge in reach.  The speed, movement and Octagon IQ Cruz possesses is formidable, but mental and physical fitness are unknown after a too long layoff.
