Jamie Lewis is the first player to go from the preliminary round into the last four at the World Darts Championship. The Welshman demolished Darren ‘The Demolition Man’ Webster 5-0 in the quarter final, with an average of 101.26 an d hitting 14 180s. Prior to that, Jamie Lewis battled through a final set decider in his preliminary match,then whitewashed a recent major finalist Jonny Clayton 3-0 before producing one of the finest performances of the tournament so far when he knocked Peter Wright out of the tournament (4-1). In the last 16 round, 'Rasta' beat James Richardson with the same scoreline. He has only dropped three sets in five matches.
Phil Taylor kept alive his hopes of winning a 17th and final World Championship title by beating Gary Anderson (5-3) in a tough battle on Friday night, hitting 12 maximums and averaging 102.02. The Power recorded a 4-0 win against Keegan Brown in the previous round, averaging 101.34 and hitting 12 of his 19 darts at doubles. And he was impressive in the 2nd round too, when he whitewashed Justin Pipe 4-0. Anyway, Taylor failed to register a three-figure average in both of his first two matches.
Jamie Lewis can definetely play good darts even under pressure but Phil Taylor is the most experienced player on earth and this could make the difference at this stage.
