KLITSCHKO vs FURY: BETTING PREVIEW
Wladimir Klitschko has dominated the heavyweight division for most of this century. He has a 64-3 career record with 53 KOs to his name - a very impressive 83% KO ratio. Klitschko has been stopped three times in his career, raising some questions about the strength of his chin although the most recent of those was at the hands of Lamont Brewster in 2004. He is now unbeaten since 2004 having won 22 fights in a row and it is difficult to remember when he was in any sort of trouble. As he approaches 40, Klitschko shows little sign of slowing down.
The Ukrainian has made the most of his size advantage over opponents during his reign, working behind the jab to grind them down and – ultimately – break them. He uses outstanding lateral movement, a thudding jab and a crushing straight right hand. But this time he will be the shorter man as his 81 inch reach is four inches shorter than the challenger’s. Anyway, when it comes to skillsets Klitschko is light years ahead of Fury.
Tyson Fury is is 12 years younger than the champion and he is an undefeated contender who has earned his shot at the belt. He is ranked as the No. 3 contender, behind only Alexander Povetkin and Deontay Wilder. Last November, the British fighter stopped Dereck Chisora in a rematch of his 2011 decision victory. In February of this year, he beat Christian Hammer by TKO. Fury also has immense power for a person his size winning 18 of his 24 professional bouts (all wins) by knockout or technical knockout. He definetely has the tools to give Klitschko a difficult match, with his tall and unorthodox style.
The Manchester born boxer has decent technical skill, especially on offense. His power is dangerous, and he's good at using his size to get into position to deliver big punches. Fury has had difficulty with very technical fighters who can jab and move well laterally. His attacking style though will leave him open to counter shots and at this level this could make a huge difference. His ultimate goal will be to turn the fight into a brawl and test out that Klitschko chin.
