LILLE v PSG BETTING PREVIEW
Lille have appointed Herve Renard as manager, a coach fresh from having guided both Zambia and Ivory Coast to glory in the Africa Cup of Nations. Of their six friendly encounters during the pre-season, Les Douges have won three matches, drawn twice and lost once. The defeat was a heavy one, with Belgian side Lokeren running out 4-1 winners three weeks ago.
During the summer transfer window, no fewer than eight players have arrived for the hosts, while 12 have departed (including the likes of Origi, Marco Lopes, Kjaer and Roux). Team captain Rio Mavuba is still in place, as are Vincent Enyeama and Marko Basa. Notable signings are Belgium forward Baptiste Guillaume and Nancy defender Ibrahim Amadou. Lille are expected to start the campaign in a 4-3-3 system, with Sofiane Boufal as their main attacking threat.
PSG, who kicked off France's domestic campaign by beating Lyon in the Trophee des Champions last weekend, have had a good pre season as they warmed-up for the new season by winning 4 of 5 friendlies en route to claiming the International Champions Cup title in Chicago. Plus, Les Parisiens just completed the £44million signing of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United.
The former Man UTD winger is not expected to start while Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the match. Edinson Cavani will therefore start up front in his absence, while it remains to be seen whether Ezequiel Lavezzi or Javier Pastore will be involved having only resumed training last week.
Lille have a great home record but their head to head against PSG is not good having lost three of their last four against PSG. Furthermore, they were destroyed 6-1 at the Parc des Princes last season.
