MANCHESTER CITY v REAL MADRID BETTING PREVIEW
Manchester City's pre-season got off to an awful start with a 2-0 defeat to local rivals Manchester United. Despite the negative result, there were positives to be found, particularly in the performance of 17 year-old Phil Foden whose performance left Pep Guardiola ‘speechless’. The CItizens have been busier still in the transfer market, taking their summer spending to over £200million by securing deals for full-backs Danilo, Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy, plus offensive midfielder Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson.Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling all started the Manchester Derby. Bernardo Silva didn’t feature last time out, but he may be deemed ready to step into the side in this one. Wilfried Bony, Fernando, Kelechi Iheanacho and Fabian Delph did not travel and look set to leave, while Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva are with the squad but may not be fit.
Real Madrid suffered a defeat on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Manchester UTD few days ago. The Galacticos have been very quiet on the transfer market so far, signing only the likes of Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid and Dani Ceballos from Real Betis while Danilo, Alvaro Morata, Pepe and James Rodriguez have been very high-profile departures as well. Anyway, the Blancos are rumoured to have signed Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco for the world record amount of €180M. Real Madrid and Man United last met in May 2016 when a Fernando's own-goal gave Real a 1-0 victory. Prior to that, Real Madrid romped to a 4-1 win over City at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, in a ICC match in front of 99,382 fans.
Cristiano Ronaldo is taking a summer break so the Portuguese star is not taking part to the ICC. Hence, the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Isco should lead the line, with Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral expected to play in the 2nd half. Sergio Ramos returned to training late after being given an extended holiday and did not play any part against Manchester United, but could be involved here.
