NEW ZEALAND v ARGENTINA BETTING PREVIEW New Zealand are the team to beat. They have lost just three matches since lifting the Webb Ellis Cup four years ago. Anyway, they lost their Rugby Championship crown earlier this year. Although they started with a home win over Argentina (39-18) and victory over the Boks (27-20) in Johannesburg, they were beaten 27-19 by the Wallabies in Sydney. The All Blacks were very impressive last time out with a resounding 41-13 win over Australia in Auckland and retained the Bledisloe Cup..
Coach Steve Hansen has named his strongest side for the start of their World Cup defence, with just one change to the team that thumped Australia last month, with Jerome Kaino replacing Victor Vito at blindside flanker. There is a blend of youth and experience in this side which will see the likes of Tony Woodcock , Richie Mccaw, Dan Carter and Conrad Smith adding valuable experience and "know-how" to this All Black team.
Argentina are expected to finish second in the group, with Tonga and Georgia their rivals for that spot. The Pumas go into this match coming off one of their most memorable victories over the Springboks along with beating Australia in last years Rugby Championship . Anyway they were beaten 26-12 by South Africa in one of their last test match in Buenos Aires a month ago. A more recent tune up saw the Pumas win 55-34 at Leicester Tigers. In 2011 they made it through the pool stage as runners up to England, winning three of their four matches before losing 33-10 to the All Blacks in the quarter finals.
Coach Daniel Hourcade has instead swung the selection axe in making 7 changes to the side beaten by the South Africa last month. Marcos Ayerza, Tomas Cubelli, Juan Martin Hernandez, Guido Petti, Pablo Matera, Leonardo Senatore and Marcelo Bosch will all start with the back-row duo of Matera and Senatore returning to the back row.
New Zealand are unbeaten against Argentina in 21 matches with the Pumas' best result being a draw way back in 1985. When these sides met at the World Cup quarter-finals in New Zealand the Pumas trailed by just 5 points at the break. The Pumas have developed a reputation for being a fantastic scrummaging unit which, in the Rugby Championship gave South Africa (especially), New Zealand and Australia a hard time.
