NEW ZEALAND v FRANCE BETTING PREVIEW While not spectacular in the Pool Stage, New Zealand eased through to win all four matches, with 3 bonus points collected. The Kiwi had problems against Argentina in their opener when they had to come from behind in the final quarter to turn things around. But we expect a much improved side in the knock-out stage.
Steve Hansen has made four changes to the New Zealand side that beat Tonga in their final pool match. The All Blacks already knew they would be without Tony Woodcock after being ruled out of the remainder of the tournament. His role at loosehead prop will be taken by Wyatt Crockett. Sam Whitelock starts in the second row at the expense of Luke Romano while Captain Richie McCaw, who was rested against Tonga, returns in place of Same Cane. Julian Savea takes his place back on the wing with Waisake Naholo dropping out.
France enter this fixture on the back of an insipid performance against Ireland. They looked devoid of creativity in the backs and never looked like threatening the try line. Reports emerged on Thursday night that France’s players had stopped taking instructions from coach Philippe Saint-André and will effectively coach themselves from now on. The same thing happened four years ago at the last World Cup, when coach Marc Lievremont was the victim of a revolt following a defeat to Tonga in the final match of the Pool stage.
Despite the uprising, Saint-Andre has made three changes to the side that lost to Ireland, with Bernard Le Roux, Morgan Parra and Alexandre Dumoulin replacing Damien Chouly, Sebastien Tillous-Borde and Mathieu Bastareaud. That means a bench spot for Rory Kockott, who is joined by Yannick Nyanga and Dimitri Szarzewski, both of whom missed the Ireland game.
In the 2011 World Cup, France lost 17-37 to New Zealand in the Pool stage but reached the final and were defeated 7-8 by the All Blacks once again. Les Blues now enter this fixture on the back of an eight-game losing streak to New Zealand that spans six years.
