Norway v Italy betting tips, predictions, lineups and free bets (Euro 2016 qualifiers - September 9, 2014)
- Written by David Bet
Norway host Italy for their opening Euro 2016 qualifying group H match and the Azzurri are the bookie favorite following their convincing performance against Netherlands. Find below a complete NORWAY v ITALY preview with betting tips, predictions, best odds, line-ups, free bets and no deposit bonuses on the match!
Italy and Norway have Croatia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan and Malta for company in Group H. The hosts failed to qualify for the 2014 but given that 24 nations will take part in the 2016 European Championship in France, the Nordic side have high hopes for the upcoming qualifying campaign.
Norway are not looking anywhere near being sharp as they only managed to win one match this year, and it was a 2-1 win against Moldova. Since then they have played six games while losing and drawing three a piece.
Mats Daehli should recover in time to face Italy, while Martin Linnes is out of contention with injury. Defender Vegard Forren will more likely be a starter but Vegar Eggen Hedenstad has been withdrawn from the squad through injury.
Antonio Conte took charge of the national side last month, replacing Cesare Prandelli, who resigned following the World Cup disaster. The Azzurri began life under the former Juventus manager with an impressive 2-0 win over World Cup semi-finalists Netherlands.
Antonio Conte will likely stick with the 3-5-2 formation he used to such success at Juve and his first game as national team coach. Mario Balotelli will be missing for Italy, so Ciro Immobile and Simone Zaza will again form the attacking partnership, with Marco Verratti likely to get the nod in centre midfield. Paletta and Osvaldo are out through injury as well as Andrea Pirlo, Montolivo and Chiellini. Marchisio misses the match through suspension.
ITALY (3-5-2): Buffon – Ranocchia, Bonucci, Astori – Darmian, Verratti, De Rossi, Giaccherini, De Sciglio – Immobile, Zaza.
