PDC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2015: BETTING PREVIEW  The six days of play from December 18-23 ahead of the Christmas break will feature the preliminary and first rounds, with the second round and third round held from December 27-30 before the tournament returns on New Year's Day for the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and final.

PHIL TAYLOR is the bookie favourite. The Power last won the title in 2013 and is keen to avoid a repeat of last year’s shock second round exit at the hands of Michael Smith. Anyway, Taylor has struggled over the past few months, losing to Gary Anderson at the Players Championship Finals, James Wade at the Masters and the World Grand Prix and Stephen Bunting at the European Championships.

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has recently won both the World Grand Prix and the European Championships. Anyway, MVG lost to Mervyn King at the Masters and Terry Jenkins at the recent Players Championship Finals showing occasional drop in form in high-pressure situations. The Green Machine has a very good draw: Joe Cullen, Stuart Kellett and Terry Jenkins lie in waiting in the opening three rounds respectively, before a potential last eight meeting with Dave Chisnall and a Semi-Final show-down with Gary Anderson

GARY ANDERSON come from a very successful season. The world number four has enjoyed arguably his most successful season on the PDC circuit, winning no fewer than seven tour events, as well as last month's Players Championship Finals in Minehead. Will nerves that have clearly been a weakness in big events be an issue for The Flying Scotsman.

ADRIAN LEWIS heads to the capital with a new spring in his step as he bids for a third crown in the space of five years. He has reached at least the Quarter-Finals in his last five World Championship campaigns, including the Semi-Finals 12 months ago. A potential second round meeting with either John Part or Keegan Brown would then be followed by a potentially mouth-watering meeting with Raymond van Barneveld in the last 16.

After a turbulent 18 months, JAMES WADE has re-emerged as a potential contender. He followed his 2nd position finish in the Grand Prix with victory in the Masters, beating Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis in ithe process, averaging more 105 in both matches. He reached the semi-finals of this event in 2012 and 2013 and the quarter-finals last year despite poor form prior to the tournament. Anyway, the Machine has a tough draw with Stephen Bunting a likely second-round opponent, as well as Lewis and Taylor likely in the quarters and semis respectively.

STEPHEN BUNTING, the talented BDO World Champion, has made the transition to the PDC circuit in outstanding fashion. He already defeated the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright and Terry Jenkins this yeatr and could cause a few upsets during the course of the world championships.

DAVE CHISNALL has really flourished in the second half of 2014. He has pushed MVG all the way in the Matchplay, European Championship and Masters and battled with Phil Taylor in the Grand Slam final. He has increased his double success percentage from 35.22 in the in the first six months of 2014 to 42.55 in the subsequent period.

Dark horses? Last year MICHAEL SMITH shocked the Alexandra Palace by eliminating Phil Taylor from the World Championships and could be dangerous. KIM HUYBRECHTS has shown is improvements, expecially when he brushed aside van Gerwen with a nine-darter en route to the Grand Slam Semi-Finals last month. MERVYN KING is capable to have great and horrible nights while SIMON WHITLOCK can cause major upsets.

RAYMOND VAN BARNEWELD has been very inconsistent in recent years and was defeated at the third round stage in this event last year. PETER WRIGHT has not enjoyed a great few months and could be another player to be eliminated in early stages.
