Anthony Joshua vs Otto Wallin Preview
After back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk and the end of his WBA, IBF and WBO world titles, Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23KO) is looking for another statement victory ahead of career-defining fights in 2024.
The Brit has already fought twice in 2023, and his third bout in a year will ensure that this is the most active he has been in seven years. Earlier this year, AJ has beaten Jermaine Franklin by unanimous decision and Robert Helenius with a vicious 7th round KO.
The Watford-born boxer has switched trainer again and will use Tyson Fury’s ex-trainer Ben Davison for this fight. Davison has experience with Wallin, having previously trained Fury for his victory over him in 2019.
Joshua could be elevated into a mandatory position to fight for the IBF title - currently held by Usyk - with a win over Wallin, but another loss here will probably see him retiring from professional boxing.
Otto Wallin is a highly-rated heavyweight boxer with a remarkable 26-1, 14KO career record thus far. His only defeat in 27 fights came as he lost on points to Tyson Fury in 2019, a bout that saw the Swede heavily damage Fury's face (who required 47 stiches and a plastic surgery).
Wallin comes into this one on a six-match winning run since that clash with the Gipsy King, and he is fresh of a split decision victory over Murat Gassiev in his last fight in September. Priot to that, "All in" earned unanimous decision wins over Rydell Booker and Halman Olguin. He has also defeated Dominic Breazeale in 2021 by unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
The Swede already has experience of facing Anthony Joshua as the pair fought twice as amateurs. In both occasions AJ was on the winning side on points.

Joshua vs Wallin Betting Tips - Who wins and how?
AJ has shown improved boxing skill since he left his old trainers and a more aggressive game plan.
But, clearly, there are still holes in Joshua's game that Wallin can exploit. The Swede is not a heavy-hitter - his last KO win came in 2020 against Travis Kauffman - but he has a good speed, skills and a solid chin. He has gone the distance in seven of his last eight fights including against Tyson Fury.
Joshua will try using his jab to keep Wallin at the distance and fire a big shot with his devastating right hand as soon as Wallin opens his guard.
Anyway, AJ knows his chin is questionable and will have to avoid being hit by Wallin, despite the Swede is not known for his one-punch power.
We don't believe Joshua knocks Wallin out, but we believe AJ can win this fight on points. A distance fight is definetely on the cards.
