Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant 3 Betting Preview
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez heads into this bout in Las vegas with a truly impressive record throughout his career thus far, with the Mexican winning 56, drawing two and losing just one of his 59 bouts thus far. The Mexican holds the WBA (super), WBC, WBO, and The Ring titles. He has held the WBA and WBC belts since defeating Callum Smith last December, retaining against Avni Yildirim before adding the WBO title by brutally stopping Billy Joe Saunders in Texas back in May. Prior to that, he has fought the likes of Sergey Kovalev, Gennadiy Golovkin, Callum Smith, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather Jr in his career, with Canelo winning all of these bouts excluding a loss to Mayweather and a draw with GGG. He’s a punishing body puncher, a vastly underrated defender and he has one of the best chins in the game. He was in there for 24 rounds with Golovkin and never so much as wobbled.
Caleb Plant comes into this fight undefeated, with a 21-0 record and holding the IBF title. This belt has been held by the American since 2019, with the unbeaten boxer defeating Jose Uzcategui before providing three successful defences against Mike Lee, Vincent Feigenbutz and former title-holder Caleb Truax. Mike Lee was stopped in three rounds, Vincent Feigenbutz went in the 10th and Caleb Truax was brushed aside 120-108 on all three cards. The 29-year-old is quick on his feet and uses his speed and length to keep foes at bay while working behind the jab to set up power punches.
Canelo vs Plant Best Bets
Ready for our Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant tips?
Caleb Plant comes in with all natural advantages. He is younger, taller, and longer than the Mexican. Anyway, it doesn't matter too much. Rocky Fielding had a 75 inch reach and Canelo out boxed him 60 punches to 38, knocking Rocky out in the third. Caleb Plant hasn’t faced a Canelo level opponent, and there are multiple weaknesses in his style that that the Mexican will capitalize off of. In the Uzcategui fight, he faded in the later rounds. He was caught in round nine by a flurry of punches that looked to be leading to a knockdown.
We expect the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet, Canelo Alvarez, to land massive body shots in the early rounds, taking gas out of Plant’s tank, before going for the KO from the 7th-8th round on.
