Malta vs England Betting Preview
Malta have a win under their belt this month, beating Luxembourg 1-0 in a friendly last week, but they have lost both of their opening two Euro 2024 qualifiers to North Macedonia and Italy. As a result, currently sat at the bottom of Group C. Anyway, they produced a fine defensive display against the Azzurri and are expected to provide a tough resistence against the Three Lions.
England enter this clash high on confidence after back-to-back wins over qualification rivals Italy (2-1) and Ukraine (2-0), their stiffest competitors in Group C, back in March. With Italy in Nations League action, Gareth Southgate's men can open up a six-point gap at the top when they face minnows Malta.
The Three Lions have won all five previous meetings between the two sides by an aggregate score of 14-1. England have also won 19 of their last 20 European Championship qualifying matches. Malta have been victorious just once in their last 21 World Cup or European qualifiers (D2 L18), a 3-0 home win against Cyprus in September 2021.
Best Odds
England are huge favorite here. Gareth Southgate's men are 1/20 to beat the Maltese team with Ladbrokes.
Malta can be backed at 80/1 (with ThePools) with the draw currently available at 20/1 (with 10Bet).

Probable Line-Ups
Malta (3-5-2): Bonello; Muscat, Apap, Borg; Mbong, Grech, Guillaumier, Yankam, Camenzuli; Jones, Nwoko
One notable injury absentee for the hosts is Teddy Teuma, who registered 12 assists for Union SG in the Belgian top flight last term. 22-year-old goalkeeper is expected to make room to the more experienced Henry Bonello. Notts County attacker Jodi Jones will lead the line, partnered by Kyrian Nwoko. Farense's Zach Muscat is a surefire starter at the back. The likes of Borg, Apap and Bong should complete the four man backline.
England (4-3-3): Pickford; Trippier, Guehi, Maguire, Shaw; Gallagher, Rice, Henderson; Saka, Kane, Rashford
England pre-game withdrawals saw Jude Bellingham and Lewis Dunk both pull out of the squad. the duo have joined other absentees such as Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Mason Mount, Reece James and Ivan Toney who is suspended for the next 8 months. As a result, Harry Kane will be flanked by Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford up front, with Jack Grealish and Phil Foden benched after celebrating the Champions League title in style. Declan Rice will anchor the midfield, alongside Jordan Henderson and Conor Gallagher. His club team-mate Marc Guehi could also get a chance to shine in John Stones' absence, partnering Harry Maguire at the heart of the back. Kieran Trippier and Luke Shaw are expected to start as full backs..
England (4-3-3): Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Henderson, Rice, Bellingham; Saka, Kane, Sterling
Gareth Southgate has also lost a trio of players, with Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Nick Pope all pulling out with injuries. Harry Kane is expected to lead the line as usual, with Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka favorites over Phil Foden and Jack Grealish for the winger roles. The likes of Jordan Henderson, Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice are expected to start in the middle of the park, while Harry Maguire will partner John Stones at the back. Kyle Walker should get the nod over Reece James as right back, Luke Shaw over Ben Chilwell as left-back.
Our Malta vs England Predictions
We expect a comfortable victory for the Three Lions. Anyway, the margin shouldn't be too wide - maybe 3 or 4 goals.
As a result, we back the 3-0 England win in the Correct Score market.
Harry Kane is the favorite to bag a goal, but we belive Marcus Rashford's odds are more interesting.
