England vs Germany Betting Preview

England enter this match on the back of Friday’s 1-0 defeat by Italy, a result which relegated the Three Lions to the second tier of the Nations League. Gareth Southgate's men are on their worst winless run (5 matches) since 2014. Futhermore, they haven't scored an open-play goal in 495 minutes. Their solitary goal in the tournament so far has been a Harry Kane penalty. That defeat to Italy was England's penultimate fixture before the 2022 World Cup and it has left boss Gareth Southgate facing serious questions over his future.

Germany have nothing to fight for as they are third in the group standings, 4 points behind leaders Hungary. Their 1-0 loss at home to Marco Rossi's men on Friday night proved to be fatal. That result marked Die Mannschaft's first defeat in any competition since Euro 2020, when they lost 2-0 against England. Hansi Flick's men faced England at their own turf in the Nations League, playing out a 1-1 draw.

Best Odds

England enter this contest as 29/20 favourites with Betfred while Hansi Flick's side are 28/13 (VBet) outsiders to sign off with a Wembley win. The draw is available at 12/5 with Bet365.

Probable Line-Ups

England (3-4-1-2): Ramsdale; Stones, Tomori, Maguire; Alexander-Arnold, Rice, Bellingham, Chilwell; Mount; Kane, Sterling

Gareth Southgate is expected to make wholesale changes. Aaron Ramsdale should start between the posts while Fikayo Tomori and John Stones are likely to partner Harry Maguire in a three-man backline. Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham are favorite over Kalvin Phillips in midfield while Mason Mount should play as number ten behind the front duo formed by Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling. The likes of Ivan Toney, Phil Foden and Tammy Abraham provide further offensive options while Jack Grealish is suspended.

Germany (4-2-3-1): Ter Stegen; Hofmann, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Raum; Kimmich, Gundogan; Musiala, Muller, Sane; Havertz

Manuel Neuer and Leon Goreztka are ruled out as they have contracted COVID-19 while Antonio Rudiger picked up his second booking of the tournament on Friday and will be absent here. Nico Schlottenberg, Matthias Ginter and Thilo Kehrer are in contention to replace the former Chelsea centre-back. Up front, Kai Havertz is likely to lead the line, with Jamal Musiala, Thomas Muller and Leroy Sanè behind him. Timo Werner is expected to be benched as well as Serge Gnabry. Julian Brandt is out through injury.

England v Germany Predictions

England famously beat Germany at this venue just over 15 months ago and are unbeaten in 15 games at Wembley Stadium - winning 13 of them. On the other hand, Germany have surprisingly only picked up one win from their seven Nations League away games since the competition's inception.

As a consequence, we back England to grab at least a draw here. We also expect both teams to find the back of the net as they haven't too much to fight for. Our recommended scoreline is 2-2, while we pick Mason Mount in the Anytime Goalscorer market..
