England vs Hungary Betting Preview
England have made an underwhelming start to the current Nations League campaign. The Three Lions have collected just two draws from their first three outings and have suffered a 1-0 defeat in the reverse match against Hungary in Budapest. Since then, Southgate's men recorded a last-gasp draw in Germany (1-1 courtesy of a penalty scored by Harry Kane) and a goalless-draw at home against Italy. In all three matches, the opponets outplayed England for most of the game. With the World Cup in Qatar edging closer, questions are being asked of Southgate and his conservative playing style. Pressure is mounting on the head coach and a negative result here could lead to an unexpected farewell.
Hungary currently sit 2nd in the group standings having collected 4 points from their three games so far. Marco Rossi's men recorded their first victory over England for 60 years when they met in Budapest just over a week ago, then they lost to Italy 2-1 and managed to earn a hard-fought draw against Germany (1-1) in Budapest.
Before their recent 0-1 defeat, England were undefeated against Hungary since 1962. Between 1965 and 2021, the two teams played a total of 15 matches, with England winning 12 while three matches were drawn.

Probable Line-Ups
England (4-2-3-1): Pickford; James, Stones, Coady, Trippier; Rice, Bellingham; Bowen, Gallagher, Saka; Kane
Conor Gallagher is set to get a chance to impress but Phil Foden remains a doubt as the Man City star is still recovering from COVID 19 illness. Jarrod Bowen should get the nod over Raheem Sterling while Harry Kane will replace Tammy Abraham as lone forward after being rested against Italy. The likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham will anchor the midfield, with Kalvin Phillips providing a further option. Bukayo Saka is in contention with Jack Grealish for a place in the offensive midfield trio. At the back, John Stones and Conor Coady are expected to be paired at the heart of the defense, with Reece James and Kieran Trippier likely to retain their berth as full backs. Jordan Pickford returns between the posts.
Hungary (3-4-2-1): Dibusz; Lang, Orban, At. Szalai; L. Nego, Schafer, A. Nagy, Z. Nagy; Sallai, Szoboszlai; Ad. Szalai
Hungary head coach Marco Rossi has barely rotated across Hungary's three matches to date. First-choice goalkeeper Peter Gulasci is suspended, with Denes Dibusz likely to replace him in goal. Andras Schafer is back from a ban and this should see Callum Styles dropping back down to the bench. Despite overworked, the front three of Dominik Szoboszlai, Roland Sallai and Adam Szalai are likely to feature from the off, with Daniel Gazdag and Szabolcs Schon expected to play at some stage.
England v Hungary Predictions
The Three Lions look exhausted, and are clearly putting in minimal effort. They looked failed to score from open play in their last three matches. This will be their last outing before a well-deserved break from footballing action and they need to take all three points here as they sit bottom of the group and are relegation-threatened. Not since the 2014 World Cup have England gone four games without a win in all competitions, so we expect a return to winnign ways here. Anyway, the Magyars have proven difficult to breakdown during this Nations League run thus far, so we go for England to win this contest 2-1. The Over 1.5 goals and the Over 3.5 total cards.
