Spain vs France Betting Preview
Spain were the better team as they ended Italy's 37-game unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory at Stadio San Siro on Wednesday. A brace from Ferran Torres came either side of a red card for Italy captain Leonardo Bonucci. La Roja get their revenge against the Azzurri after they were knocked out on penalties in the Euro 2020 semifinal this summer. Since that loss, Spain have won all three games they have played.
France pulled off a thrilling 3-2 victory on Thursday against Belgium after trailing 2-0 at the half-time. Theo Hernandez scored the deciding goal in injury time after Mbappè and Benzema levelled the score. It was just the sort of boost France needed after their hugely disappointing Euro 2020 campaign and a couple of disappointing World Cup qualifying draws. While the game highlighted France’s attacking abilities it also showcased their defensive frailties as they’ve now only kept one clean sheet in their last seven matches.
France have only won two of the last nine meetings with Spain (D1 L6). The teams last met in a 2017 friendly, a 2-0 Spain victory, and its last competitive match was a 1-0 Spain win in 2014 World Cup Qualifying.
Best Odds
France are 81/50 with Betsafe to win the final in 90 minutes and 8/11 favourites to lift the trophy. The draw is available at odds of 23/10 with BritainBet. Spain are 2/1 with Betfred to win in 90 mins and slightly underdogs to win the trophy at Evens.
Probable Line-Ups
Spain (4-3-3): Simon; Azpilicueta, Laporte, P. Torres, Alonso; Koke, Busquets, Gavi; Sarabia, Torres, Oyarzabal
Luis Enrique is unlikely to make many changes to his starting XI. Pau Torres and Aymeric Laporte will be given the go-ahead for the centre-back berths. The only change in the back for could see Sergio Reguilon replacing Marcos Alonso. In midfield, Barcelona’s young sensation Gavi, who became the youngest player to represent his country at 17 years and 62 days, is expected to retain his berth alongside Koke and Sergio Busquets. Up front, Ferran Torres is not 100% fit but should feature from the start alongside Pablo Sarabia and Mikel Oyarzabal. The likes of Alvaro Morata and Gerard Moreno remain sidelined.
France (3-4-1-2): Lloris; Kounde, Varane, L. Hernandez; Pavard, Pogba, Tchouameni, T. Hernandez; Griezmann; Mbappe, Benzema
Adrein Rabiot will miss the final having tested positive to COVID-19. With N'Golo Kantè missing for the same reason, Monaco starlet Adrien Tchouameni will joing Paul Pogba in the middle of the park, with Benjamin Pavard and Theo Hernandez starting as wing-backs. Full-back Lucas Digne has since withdrawn from the squad with a muscle problem. Up front, Antoine Griezmann will play as number ten behind Kylian Mbappè and Karim Benzema.
Spain v France Predictions
Les Blues entered the semi-final having won just one of their last six games in all competitions and still look shaky at the back. Spain played brilliant football and will have had one day more to prepare this game. We expect both teams to find the back of the net, with Spain tipped to lift the trophy after a draw in regular time. The 2-2 is our pick in the correct score market, while Pablo Sarabia is our tip in the anytime goalscorer market.
