Arsenal vs Liverpool betting preview
Arsenal lost ground in the race for the title in a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth a week ago, undone by yet another red card. That loss leaves the Gunners four points behind the table-topping Liverpool. They've gone down to 10-men in three of their eight fixtures, and that costed them the seven dropped points so far in Premier League. Mikel Arteta's men bounced back with a 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League, thanks to an own goal by goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last seven home matches in the top-flight.Liverpool make the trip to the North London off the back of an impressive 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Anfield in what was dubbed their first real test of the season. The Merseysiders are flying under new manager Arne Slot, who has overseen 11 wins from 12 games. Their 1-0 shocking defeat at home to Nottingham Forest is their only dropped points so far across eight matches. The Reds also go into this game off the back of 1-0 wins in Europe this week, as Darwin Nunez scored the deciding goal in their win over RB Leipzig in Germany.
As to direct encounters, Arsenal have lost just one of the last five meetings against the Reds, with the most recent clash ending in a 3-1 victory for the Gunners at the Emirates in February 2024. Prior to that, the two teams drew 1-1 at Anfield. Moreover, during the 2023/24 season Liverpool eliminated Arsenal from the FA Cup 2-0 in the third round.
Probable Lineups
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; Partey, White, Gabriel, Kiwior; Rice, Jorginho, Havertz; Martinelli, Saka, Trossard
Martin Odegaard and the suspended Saliba are definitely unavailable for the Londoners and and will likely have to make do without Riccardo Calafiori, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu. William Saliba serves a one-match suspension. Ben White is expected to partner Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of the back, while Thomas Partey and Jakub Kiwior may have to be the full-backs. Jorginho could be included at the expense of Mikel Merino in midfield, while Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling are options on the right if Saka does miss out.
Liverpool (4-3-3): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konatè, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Diaz, Salah, Nunez
The visitors will again be without goalkeeper Alisson and midfielder Harvey Elliott, while Diogo Jota has been ruled out of this contest after picking up a rib injury in the win over Chelsea last weekend. Conor Bradley and Federico Chiesa are both doubts. Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpoare in contention for a berth in the front three, with the former a substitute in both matches after the October international break. Curtis Jones will provide relief in midfield if fresh legs are required in place of Dominik Szoboszlai or Alexis Mac Allister.
Best Odds
Arsenal begin the match as favourites with football betting sites, priced at around 6/4 (2.50). The draw is available at around 12/5 in UK (or 3.58 globally) while a Liverpool victory is backable at over 2/1 (3.04).
Arsenal vs Liverpool Betting Tips
Arsenal simply can’t afford to lose at home to Liverpool. Such a result would leave them seven points behind the top of the table.
Saliba's absence is a major blow for the Gunners.Mikel Arteta's men have won only five of 11 outings without Saliba, with their win rate dropping from 74 per cent to 45 per cent and goals conceded per game rising from 0.8 to 1.6.
This lead us to recommed Liverpool to win or draw (Double Chance).
With just three goals conceded so far this season, Liverpool boast the best defense in the league. Hence we don't expect a high-scoring affair, and so we back Liverpool to win 1-0 in the Correct Score market.
Mac Allister to have 1+ shots on target completes our set of predictions.
