Man UTD v Tottenham betting preview
Seven points from their first five games of the league campaign leaves Manchester United in the bottom half of the table in 11th place. Pressure continues to mount on Erik ten Hag after Man UTD's Europa League campaign started with a 1-1 stalemate against FC Twente on Wednesday, which followed last weekend's goalless draw at Crystal Palace. Prior to that the Red Devils were beaten by Brighton 2-1 and were crushed by Liverpool 3-0 at Old Trafford. Their only win in the last five matches came at Southampton (0-3) in Matchweek 4.
Tottenham are in a similar boat to United with an identical record in the league but they are starting to build up a head of steam after disappointing defeats against Newcastle and Arsenal either side of the international break. The North Londoners have won three matches in a row and enter this clash on the back of a 3-0 victory in midweek against Qarabag in Europa League despite Radu Dragusin were sent off after few minutes of play. Last weekend Ange Postecoglou’s men put in their best performance of the season when hammering Brentford 3-1 in Premier League.
In terms of direct encounters, Spurs are unbeaten in their last three matches against Manchester United. They won 2-0 at home last season before the clash at Old Trafford finished 2-2 as goals from Rasmus Hojland and Marcus Rashford were cancelled out by Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Probable Line-Ups
Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Eriksen, Mainoo; Diallo, Fernandes, Garnacho; Zirkzee
Ten Hag confirmed that changes from the team who drew with Twente can surely be expected. Mason Mount made his return from injury as a late substitute in that game but is unlikely to feature from the off. The likes Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Ramsus Hojlund are all pushing to start. At the back, Matthijs de Ligt likely to return to the lineup after being rested in midweek. Defenders Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro remain sidelined.
Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son
Wilson Odobert and Richarlison are the Spurs' only two guaranteed absentees but Son Heung Min will face a late fitness test after suffering a physical issue in the match against Qarabag. Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson are probably starters up front, while Betancur could join James Maddison and Dejank Kulusevski in the middle of the park. Cristian Romero will return to the side after his European suspension with Pedro Porro are also expected to start having been rested in midweek.
Best Odds
Man UTD are marginal favourites with most football betting sites for this match, which has traditionally gone their way, although not last term when Spurs took four points off the Red Devils.
Man UTD v Tottenham Betting Tips
It should be a high-scoring affair at Old Trafford!
Man UTD's last two outings both ended 2-2 and two of the last three meetings against tottenham finished with the same scoreline.
Five of Tottenham's last six games in all competitions produced over 2.5 goals. Moreover, Ange Postecoglu's men have conceded 30 goals in their last 15 Premier League away matches.
As a consequence we back the 2-2 draw. The "Both teams to score" also looks a smart option.
Dominc Solanke has looked a real handful in his last two Spurs appearances and we back the former Bournemouth striker to find the back of the net.
