Tottenham v Arsenal betting preview
Tottenham have endured a mixed start to the 2024/25 campaign, with a 1-1 draw against Leicester and a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle - despite dominating the match at St.James' Park - bookending a 4-0 win over Everton. The clean sheet against the Toffees is one of only two they have kept across their last 14 Premier League games, considering also last season.
Arsenal are unbeaten so far and currently sit fourth in the Premier League standings with seven points from three games - two points worse off than league leaders Manchester City and Liverpool. Mikel Arteta's men started the domestic campaign with a pair of 2-0 wins over Wolves and Aston Villa. Anyway, their 1-1 draw with Brighton before the international break was a bit disappointing.
There was a 23-point gulf between Arsenal and Tottenham in last season's Premier League. The Spurs have lost five of the last seven contests against Arsenal, including the last two at home. In last September's clash at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal twice led before having to settle for a 2-2 draw, while at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April they almost surrendered a three-goal lead but were able to hold on for a 3-2 success.
Starting Lineups
Tottenham (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Van de Ven, Romero, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Kulusevski, Solanke, Son
The Spurs have some positive injury news heading into the North London Derby as £65 million summer signing Dominic Solanke is expected to return after missing the last two games with a twisted ankle. Central defender Micky van de Ven has also returned to training and could start but Brazilian Richarlison is still out injured. Yves Bissouma picked up a knock on international duty and is a fresh doubt, with Rodrigo Bentancur also being charged by FA ahead of the game.
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Jorginho, Havertz; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli.
Captain Martin Odegaard has been sidelined for at least three weeks by an ankle problem picked up on international duty, and key midfielder Declan Rice is suspended after being sent off in the victory against Brighton a fortnight ago. Meanwhile, Mikel Merino is out with a fractured shoulder and fellow summer arrival Riccardo Calafiori could also miss the game due to injury. Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu will definitely miss this match through injury. Up front, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus are in contention to start as central striker since Kai Havertz is likely to play in midfield. Veteran Raheem Sterling, who recently arrived on a one-year-loan from Chelsea, is expected to make his debut off the bench.
Best Odds
Tottenham are 21/10 to win on Sunday afternoon, slightly underdogs despite playing in front of their own turf. Arsenal are backable at 7/5 with Midnite while the draw is priced at 14/5 with Parimatch.
Tottenham v Arsenal Betting Tips
Arsenal scored a whopping 91 goals in the top flight last season and can still expose Spurs' frailties at the back. Anyway, we cannot see a way for the visitors to earn the derby bragging rights with their current selection crisis.
Declan Rice's absence, particularly, is a huge blow for the Gunners. As a result, we back the draw here.
There should be no shortage of goal chances, hence we go for the Both Teams To Score and the 2-2 in the Correct Score market.
As for players betting, we recommend "Kai Havertz over 1.5 fouls" and "Sarr over 0.5 shots on target".
Another interesting bet is "Tottenham to get the most corners". This season Postecoglu's men won the corner count at Leicester 13-2, against Everton 12-5 and at Newcastle 12-7.
