Real Madrid vs Atalanta Betting Preview
Real Madrid booked their place in Warsaw courtesy of their victory over Borussia Dortmund in last season's Champions League final at Wembley. They concluded the 2023-24 season with an impressive 26-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, securing 17 victories and, of course, another La Liga title. Carlo Ancelotti's men also ended their pre-season preparations on a high, as they emerged victorious over Chelsea (2-1) in their final friendly of the US Tour thanks to goals from Lucas Vázquez and Brahim Díaz.Atalanta stunned Bayer Leverkusen to win the Europa League in Dublin few months ago. They finished fourth in Serie A, automatically securing a Champions League berth days before lifting the trophy in the Irish capital. The club has been busy over the transfer window, with coach Gian Piero Gasperini making several signings to replace the players who left the club after the 2023/24 season. Anyway, they were recently thrashed by St. Pauli (3-0) and Parma (4-1) and the team doesn’t look as solid as they used to a few months back. Prior to that, the Serie A outfit drew 2-2 against AZ Alkmaar.
The only competitive meeting between these clubs was in the round-of-16 of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League. Real Madrid secured a 1-0 win in the first leg at Atalanta's home ground, followed by a commanding 3-1 triumph in the second leg at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium in Madrid.

Probable Line-Ups
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Courtois — Carvajal, Rudiger, Militao, Mendy — Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham — Rodrygo, Mbappe, Vinicius Junior
Real Madrid will have to navigate this season without Toni Kroos who has retired from competitive fixtures. Nacho Fernandez has also moved to Al-Qadsian in Saudi Pro League. David Alaba is expected to be absent but Kylian Mbappe's highly anticipated debut awaits after joining Real Madrid during summer on a free transfer. Fellow summer signing Endrick will also make his official debut at some stage. Jude Bellingham is expected to start despite his recent return from training following his run to Euro 2024 final with England.
Atalanta (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi — Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac — Zappacosta, Pasalic, Ederson, Ruggeri — Lookman, De Ketelaere — Retegui
Mateo Retegui looks set to lead Atalanta's attack following his £25m transfer from Genoa while other summer signings such as Ben Godfrey and Ibrahim Sulemana could make their debuts in the second half. Ademola Lookman - the hat-trick hero from their win over Leverkusen in the Europa League final - and Charles De Ketelaere complete the attacking trio while Mario Pasalic and Ederson will anchor then midfield. Unfortunately Nicolo Zaniolo and Teun Koopmeiners will miss out due to injury along with long-term absentees Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini.
Our Real Madrid vs Atalanta Predictions
Real Madrid and Atalanta have had underwhelming pre-season performances but considering Madrid's incredible array of attacking options under Ancelotti's command it's difficult not to favor the Champions League champions to win more silverware here.
We can only envisage a victory for Real Madrid in Warsaw but we also expect Atalanta to counter-attack.
Hence, we predict a 2-1 win for Real Madrid in the Correct Score market.
Of their offensive quartet, Vinícius should be the most brilliant heading into this match, having featured in two of his team’s three pre-season games.
