England Women vs Germany Women Betting Preview
England have reached the final in stunning fashion thanks to a stunning 4-0 win over Sweden in the semifinal at Bramall Lane, a game that featured a backheel goal from Manchester United forwards Alessia Russo.
Arsenal forward Beth Mead scored her sixth tournament goal in the semi-final and she is level on goals with Germany's Alexandra Popp for the Golden Boot award.
The Lionesses have conceded only once in their five matches at the tournament - in their 2-1 quarter-final win over Spain.
Boss Sarina Wiegman won the last edition of this tournament in 2017 with Netherlands and will be determined to make it two in a row, this time with England on home soil.
Germany is the most successful side in Women’s Euro history, having won eight of the 12 editions. They reached their ninth European final thanks to their 2-1 victory over France in the semifinal, as striker Alexandra Popp scored her fifth and sixth goals of the tournament.
Prior to that, Die Nationalelf then eased past Austria by the same scoreline while in the Group Stage a 2-0 victory over Spain was the highlight.
Germany had not conceded at this tournament until an own goal just before half-time in their semi-final handed France an equaliser.
Best Odds
Even though Germany have never lost a Euros final, the Lionesses go into the contest as odds-on favourites to become champions. Anyway, the odds indicate that they will be in for a tough match against Germany. England are 13/8 to win inside 90 minuteswith VBet, while Germany are 2/1 with William Hill.
The draw is backable at 9/4 with Bet365.
Probable Line-Ups
England Women (4-1-4-1): Ears; Bronze, Bright, Williamson, Daly; Walsh; Stanway, Mead, Kirby, Hemp; White
After naming the same starting XI for all five games so far, Sarina Wiegman will surely head into the final with an unchanged team. Ellen White will lead the line once again, despite "super sub" Alessia Russo has scored four goals coming from the bench. At the back, Millie Bright and skipper Leah Williamson will form the central pair. Keira Walsh went off against Sweden late on with cramp but is expected to be fine to start again while Fran Kirby and Georgia Stanway will retain their starting berth as offensive midfielders. Beth Mead will continue on the right-wing; she’s looking to become the first player to score 7+ at one Euros.
Germany Women (4-3-3): Frohms; Gwinn, Hendrich, Hegering, Rauch; Magull, Oberdorf, Dabritz; Brand, Popp, Huth.
Germany are sweating over Klara Bühl’s availability after she missed the France semi-final due to Covid-19. This will be a big boost as no player has created more chances than Bühl’s 14 at this tournament. As a result, Jule Brand is expected to deputise on the left-wing with Svenja Huth and captain Alexandra Popp completing the front three. Lina Magull, Lena Oberdorf and Sara Däbritz will start in the middle of the park while Merle Frohms will play between the sticks. Lea Schuller is in contention for a place but still working her way back to fitness.
England vs Germany Predictions
The Lionesses came out on top when these two teams met in February this year and will certainly have overwhelming home support at Wembley.Anyway, the Germans are rock solid at the back and it will be very hard for Sarina Wiegman's girls finding the back of the net.
A draw in on the card, but ultimately England can score the deciding goal in extra-time as it happened against Spain. The under 2.5 goals also looks a "safe" choice.
For correct-score backers, a 1-1 scoreline at 57/10 completes our predictions.
