England vs Albania Betting Preview
England sit top of Group I, three points clear of Poland and a draw will be enough to secure a berth in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar next year since they have an easy assignment away to San Marino next Monday. Gareth Southgate's men beat Albania 2-0 in Tirana back in March, courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Mason Mount. They have registered clean sheets in 13 of their last 18 fixtures and never conceded more than a single goal in any of these games. Last time out, the Three Lions struggled to assert their dominance over Hungary and were forced to settle for a point in a 1-1 stalemate at Wembley. That was their second draw in a row, after a 1-1 stalemate against Poland in Warsaw.Albania have lost three games out of eight so far, winning five, with defeats coming against the three strongest sides in the group. Edoardo Reja's men were beaten by Poland 4-1 in September, then recorded three consecutive wins over Hungary (1-0 both at home and away) and San Marino (5-0) before suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Poland. The Red and Blacks remain in third place and are only two points adrift of the Polish national team. Albania will surely fight to earn at least a point and should have no trouble putting Andorra to the sword at home in the final game of their World Cup Qualifying campaign.
Best Odds
England are 2/15 to win with BetVictor, the draw is available at 9/1 with VBet while a shocking victory for the visitors is backable at 33/1 with Unibet.
Probable Line-Ups
England (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Chilwell; Rice, Phillips; Sterling, Foden, Grealish; KaneGareth Southgate is waiting on Mason Mount and Luke Shaw before settling on his line-up for this clash while Marcus Rashford and James Ward-Prowse are defintely out. Emile Smith-Rowe has been called up as a replacement but the Arsenal offensive midfielders is expected to be benched. Harry Kane will play as lone striker depite being in poor form, with Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden behind the Tottenham star. Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips will anchor the midfield. At the back, John Stones will partner Harry Maguire while Kyle Walker will probably start at right back.
Albania (3-4-1-2): Berisha; Ismajli, Kumbulla, Veseli; Hysaj, Ramadani, Bare, Trashi; Bajrami; Cikalleshi, Broja
Defender Berat Djimsiti suffered a forearm fracture on international duty last month and is not available for the visitors, meaning that Frederic Veseli, Marash Kumbulla and Ardian Ismajli will form the three-man backline. Up front, Rey Manaj is not in the squad but Armando Broja has returned to fitness. The Southampton striker will be flanked by Sokol Cikalleshi while Nedim Bajrami will play in the number ten role. Midfielder Endri Cekici returns from suspension, but the 24-year-old will have a hard time forcing his way back into the engine room. the likes of Elseid Hysaj and Lorenc Trashi will start as wing backs in a 3-4-1-2 system.
England v Albania Predictions
England are under pressure to respond following their underwhelming performance against Hungary. Albania are third in the group, two points behind Poland, so will still be hoping to overhaul them and claim second place and a play-off spot. Their recent results in the group suggest they are a tough nut to break, so we expect a narrow win for England. The 1-0 could be the right choice in the Correct Score market with Raheem Sterling tipped to break the deadlock.Follow BetAndSkill on Twitter and stay tuned for all our football predictions!
