Poland vs England Betting Preview
Poland are currently runner-up to England in the Group I standings and they need a victory in order to keep their hopes alive to qualify as group winners. Last week, they posted two wins in a row with a combined goal difference 11-2. At first, they beat 4-1 Albania at home, before jumping to San Marino to ease past the rivals with 7-1 victory. Their rearguard is far from watertight, with Paulo Sousa's side failing to shut out both Albania and minnows San Marino in each of their last two outings and conceding at least one goal in 11 of their last 12 matches in all competitions. They have been below par in major tournaments - Poland lost two of their three group games at the Euros after suffering Nations League defeats to Italy and the Netherlands last year.
England have a 100% winning record in Group I so far, with five wins in five games and a total goal difference of 17-1. Their latest two outings ended with the exact same result, 4-0, against Hungary (in Budapest!) and Andorra. Another three points in Poland would all but seal their passage to next year's Qatar showpiece since they have a five-point cushion over the Poles after five matches. The Three Lions are unbeaten in their last 15 internationals and their last 26 World Cup Qualifiers.
Best Odds
Betfair have a Poland win at 11/2 on Wednesday whilst the draw is 14/5 with Unibet, England are 7/10 with Betsafe to get another victory in qualifying and keep up their strong form.
Probable Line-Ups
Poland (3-5-2): Szczesny; Bednarek, Glik, Helik; Bereszynski, Rybus, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Linetty; Buksa, Lewandowski
Adam Buksa hit a hat-trick over the weekend and is expected to partner Robert Lewandowski up front. Karol Widerski provides a further offensive option. In midfield, the Grzegorz Krychowiak will be flanked by Piotr Zielinski and Karol Linetty, with Macjej Rybus and Bartosz Bereszysnki playing as wing backs. Michal Helik will start at the back to form the defensive trio alongside Kamil Glik and Jan Bednarek. The likes of Krzysztof Piatek, Dawid Kownacki, Sebastian Szymanski and Kacper Kozlowski are sidelined while Leeds' midfielder Mateusz Klich is unavailable.
England (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Shaw, Maguire, Stones, Walker; Rice, Phillips; Grealish, Mount, Sterling; Kane
Gareth Southgate named his strongest XI for Thursday’s win in Budapest and then made 11 changes on Sunday. Hence, we expect wholesale changes again with the likes of Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Jack Grealish all returning in the starting line-up. Harry Maguire, John Stones and Luke Shaw will all also return at the back with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker competing for the remaining spot. Jadon Sancho and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are out through injury while Tyron Mings is suspended.
England v Poland Predictions
In the most recent game between these two sides, played in March at Wembley, Gareth Southgate's men won 2-1. Poland have failed to topple England in each of the previous 17 meetings and we expect the Three Lions to stretch this run. Despite a draw would be a more than acceptable result, we expect England to take all three points here. The 2-1 or 3-1 win are our favoruite options in the Correct Score market. The "Both teams to score" bet at 6/5 also is worth a try.Why not check out some of our best no deposit offers or free bets and combine them with our free picks on the World Cup Qualifiers and get your journey started today?!
