How to bet on the NBA basketball
You can actually bet on the NBA in a number of different ways and most major bookmakers will offer a number of NBA betting lines and markets to play throughout the season.
Naturally, one of the most popular wagers is the match result bet which essentially sees you place a bet on the team you think will win the match.
But there are plenty more ways to back a winner though. Read here our how to bet on NBA guide!
How To Read Our Free NBA Picks
There are a lot of betting markets available on every game but our tipsters are focusing on the match winner (also called Money Line) or match handicap markets, since other markets such as points spread, total points, etc.. are very tricky.
As a result, you will see the following possible picks:
1 if we predict that the home team wins the match
2 if we predict that the away team wins the match
Furthermore, you could see an amount of points of handicap attached to a team. The handicap points (displayed as either + or – a value, such as +11.5 points) is factored into the final score to determine the game’s outcome for the purpose of the bet.
NBA Betting Strategy
With an 82-game season and the playoffs, the NBA gives punters a great opportunity to place bets. Anyway, the NBA is a very hard to predict league as there a lot of factors to taking into account for each NBA game such as:
FatigueTeams often play 3-4 games per week - with plenty of contests taking place on back-to-back nights. Well rested teams have a real advantage on teams who play two straight games or are playing their 3rd game in 5 days
Injuries and Team NewsThe absence of major players in the starting lineup is one of the key factors that could influence the odds and the outcome of a game.
MotivationSome teams know very quickly that they will fail to qualify for the play-offs. The more they lose, the greater the chance of getting a good draft number for next season. This is the reason why some team can deliberately lose matches in the 2nd half of the season.
NBA Power RankingsNBA Power Rankings are a large collection of offensive and defensive stats for each NBA team. Eg. Shooting percentage, Rebounds per game, Steals per game, Points scored per game, Points conceded per game, etc..
Home and Away FormMany teams have a strong home court record but they are very poor on the travels.
An algorithm devoleped by our tipsters, plus human experience and betting talent, is the basis to our winning NBA tips. This is why our picks have a winning rate of over 69% throughout the NBA season!
Another good strategy on the NBA play-offs is the NBA Zig-Zag Theory.

How Does The NBA In-Season Tournament Work
Basketball fans will have even more competition to enjoy this NBA 2024-25 season with the second edition of the In-Season Tournament, or Emirates NBA Cup.
The NBA's goals are to create “another competition to win, engage fans in a new way and drive additional interest in the early portion of the regular-season schedule.
The In-Season Tournament will consist of two stages: Group Play and the Knockout Rounds.

2025 NBA championship: Odds to win
The Boston Celtics were almost flawless in winning a first NBA title since 2008 so it is no surprise that they go into the new campaign as strong favourites to retain their crown.
However, the NBA has not seen a repeat champion since the Golden State Warriors in 2018 and, at the prices, it could pay to look elsewhere.
The New York Knicks acquired one of the league's best big men, Karl-Anthony Towns, in the off-season, and he should help them space the floor with fluidity.
The new-look Philadelphia 76ers being the newest quasi-superteam, assuming they can all get on the court together. The Sixers landed Paul George in free agency. They also re-signed Tyrese Maxey, extended Embiid, signed Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon and Caleb Martin and also brought back Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kyle Lowry.
The West looks tough to call but, the Oklahoma City Thunder, meanwhile, loom as the best in the West after adding Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein to their young core this past summer. The Dallas Mavericks have adde more offensive talent by signing Klay Thompson, one of the most dangerous catch-and-shoot threats in NBA history, and could be a contender.
Nikola Jokic and his fellow Denver Nuggets look a fair price to go all the way, just as they did in 2023. Russell Westbrook is an interesting and useful addition into the mix as the roster already includes Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Christian Braun and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
At a big price, it could be worth taking a punt on the Memphis Grizzlies to make a run to the Finals. Star man Ja Morant played just nine games last term while Marcus Smart and Brandon Clarke also missed huge chunks of the season. They have also added rookie Zach Edey – who brings some much-needed depth in the centre spot – to the roster.
- Boston Celtics 16/5
- Oklahoma City Thunder 8/1
- New York Knicks 9/1
- Philadelphia 76ers 10/1
- Minnesota Timberwolves 12/1
- Denver Nuggets 12/1
