TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 10 BETTING PREVIEW
After a rest day, racing gets underway again with a relatively short medium-mountain stage to Megève. The route includes four categorized climbs, but none of them are more difficult than a Category 2.In the first 100 kilometres they travel over the Côte de Chevenez (2.2 kilometres at 2.9%), Col de Jambaz (6.7 kilometres at 3.8%) and Côte de Châtillon-sur-Cluses (4.5 kilometres at 3.9%).
The descent to Cluses is followed by a 24-kilometre false flat that brings the peloton to the feet of Megève Altiport, where riders will find a long but not extremely steep climb (21.2 km at an average gradient of 4.1%).
The big finale will be the last kilometre of the climb to the line at Megève Altiport, including a few hundred metres ramp at 7.1% that could see a battle between the most brilliant breakaway riders (and eventually the race’s strong men).
Stage 10 Favourites
After Bob Jungels' surprising victory on Sunday (we mentioned him among the possible surprises despite his most recent victory came 3 years ago), this should be another day for stage hunters.GC favorites will probably save energies as the finishing climb has many shallower sections where dropped riders can come back.
Hence, riders like Bauke Mollema, Wout Van Aert, Matej Mohoric, Alberto Bettiol, Dylan Teuns, Maximilian Schachmann, Michael Matthews, and Lennard Kamna have the perfect profile to shine on Tuesday.
Matthieu Van Der Poel will probably make his last attempt to rediscover form after a very disappointing first week of racing that could force him to abandon the Tour.
We also expect riders that had GC ambitions, but are already out of contention, aiming for a glory day. Daniel Martinez, Ben O'Connor, Jakob Fuglsang and Rigoberto Uran could be the right names.
Thibaut Pinot will once again lead French hopes to end a very long drought fro local riders, alongside the likes of Pierre Latour, Valentin Madouas, Warren Barguil, Benjamin Thomas, Franck Bonnamour, Alexis Vuillermoz, and Benoit Cosnefroy.
Dark horses?
Dozens of riders could have targeted this stage. We would keep an eye on Giulio Ciccone, Peter Sagan, Neilson Oliveira, Luis Leon Sanchez, Michael Storer, Andreas Kron, Tim Wellens, Philippe Gilbert and Michael Woods.Other possible attackers could be Mattia Cattaneo, Florian Senechal, Victor Lafay, Andrea Bagioli, Pierre Rolland, Nils Politt, Simon Geschke, and Magnus Cort Nielsen.
With so many possible contenders, predicting the winner is no easy task.
