TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 12 BETTING PREVIEW
Today's profile is very similar to Stage 10, won by Pello Bilbao last Tuesday, as it features five categorised climbs:- Côte de Thizy-les-Bourg (3rd category, 4.3 kilometres at 5.6%).
- Col des Ecorbans (3rd category, 2.1 kilometres at 6.9%)
- Col du Fût d’Avenas (uncategorised, 2.6 kilometres at 4.3%)
- Col de la Casse Froide (3rd category, 5.2 kilometres at 6.1%)
- Col de la Croix Montmain (2nd category, 5.5 kilometres at 6.1%)
- Col de la Croix Rosier (2nd category, 5.3 kilometres at 7.6%)
The last three climbs towards the finale in Belleville-en-Beaujolais will make it quite selective.
There is still 26.5 kilometres remaining at the Croix Rosier, meaning that a little group of attackers is expected to fight for the stage win, rather than a solo attacker.
We don’t expect a yellow jersey battle because there are back-to-back-to-back mountain stages in the coming two days.
Stage 12 Favourites
Obviously, predicting the winner of this kind of stages is no easy task.Mathieu Van Der Poel and Wout Van Aert are still winless this year. They tried to attack on a descend on Tuesday, but the winning breakaway was already unreachable and gave up after a few kilometers.
The duo this time is likely to promote an early breakaway so they should be in the mix.
Riders such as Pello Bilbao, Mattias Skjelmose, Michal Kwiatkowski, Krists Neilands, Georg Zimmermann and Ben O'Connor already proved to be capable of winning there. Anyway, Pello Bilbao is currently 4th in the overall standings and will not be allowed to escape.
Good form has been shown by Giulio Ciccone, Matej Mohoric, Felix Gall, Neilson Powless, Tom Pidcock, Tobias Johannessen and Ruben Guerreiro.
Julian Alaphilippe's form is improving day by day and we expect him to be among the attackers. His legs can't match Van Der Poel and Van Aert, but the Frenchman has talent and experience to upset the odds.
Dark horses?
Other probable contenders are Matteo Jorgenson, Alberto Bettiol, Fred Wright, Jasper Stuyven, Magnus Cort Nielsen, Dylan Teuns, Pierre Latour, and Stefan Kung. Many of them have been quiet so far but they might have targeted this stage..TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 12 PREDICTIONS
