TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 13 BETTING PREVIEW
A profile with few significant difficulties should, in theory, allow the teams that are focused on sprint finishes to make hay on Friday. The first climb of the day is the third-category Côte de Brié (2.4km at 6.9%) that begins after 74km of racing.
The second-category Col de Parménie (5.1km at 6.6%) is the hardest climb of the day but comes with over 110km to go.
The third-category Côte de Saint-Romain-en-Gal (a 6.6-kilometre climb at 4.5%) crests 44km from the finish.
The final kilometers are not too technical. The last turn comes with 800 metres to go but a slight 1.5km long uphill at 4.9% 1.5Km finishing with only 8.5 kilometers to go will mean pure sprinters will have a relatively clear run to the finish line.
Stage 13 Favourites
A profile with few significant difficulties should, in theory, allow the teams that are focused on sprint finishes to make hay on Friday.Anyway, sprinters who struggle uphill will have little chances.
Wout Van Aert would be the natural favourite but the Belgian has saved no energies in the last few days, helping his captain Jonas Vingegaard on the Alps.
All his main contenders - Jasper Philipsen, Fabio Jakobsen, Peter Sagan, Michael Matthews and Dylan Groenewegen - arrived with the 'gruppetto' and will be fresher than WVA.
Would be enough to beat the current Green Jersey?
Other possible sprinters fighting for a Top 5 finish could be Alexander Kristoff, Danny Van Poppel, Caleb Ewan and Alberto Dainese.
Any possible surprise?
A breakaway only has chances of succeeding if the right group goes up the road and main sprinters' team have not enough energies to chase them after two days on the Alps. This group could include breakaway specialists such as Magnus Cort Nielsen, Alberto Bettiol, Matej Mohoric, Jasper Stuyven, Andreas Kron, Taco Van Der Horn and Fred Wright.
Brave punters can also back long shots such as Brent Van Moer, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Benjamin Thomas, Florian Senechal, Benoit Cosnefroy and Franck Bonnamour.
