TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 15 BETTING PREVIEW

The only wo categorised climbs are Côte d’Ambialet (4.4 kilometres at 4.6%, cat.3) at kilometre 68.9 and the Côte de Cammazes (5.1 kilometres at 4.1%, cat3) at kilometre 154.6.

This stage clearly favours the sprinters – though a strong breakaway could thwart their plans.

Undulations and fatigued peloton could be the best allied for attackers as there are not many riders left (or fit) to bring things together before the final in Carcassone.

Anyway, the bunch sprint remains the most likely scenario.

The sprinters are not given a lot of opportunities to showcase their skills this Tour de France, as only Stage 19 and Stage 21 could suit fast men.

Stage 15 Favourites

Dylan Groenewegen and Fabio Jakobsen have won one stage apiece and are the bookies' favorites for this stage.

TeamQuick-Step Alpha Vinyl has the best leadout train at the moment, something that should favor Jakobsen. One of Team BikeExchange's leadout riders, Michael Matthews, will be tired after yesterday's winning effor in Mende. So, we expect Groenewegen to do something he doesn't love - follow other teams' lead out trains.

Wout Van Aert represents their main threat, should the Belgian have the freedom to go for the stage win.

Caleb Ewan is struggling after Friday's nasty crash, leaving the likes of Jasper Philipsen, Peter Sagan, Alberto Dainese, Mads Pedersen and Danny Van Poppel competing for a Top 5 place.

Other possible riders that will sprint in Carcassonne are Luca Mozzato, Alexander Kristoff, Jasper Stuyven, Hugo Hofstetter and Andrea Pasqualon. They will probably have a Top 10 placement as main objective.

And what about possible breakaway riders?

We would look for 'fresh' riders, those that have saved their legs so far.

Matej Mohoric, Taco Van Der Hoorn, Nils Politt, Stefan Bissegger and Benjamin Thomas could be interesting long shots.

And if Caleb Ewan can't be competitive in a mass sprint, don't rule out other Lotto Soudal riders such as Brent Van Moer, Philippe Gilbert, Tim Wellens and Florian Vermeersch.Stage 15 - Tour De France 2022
