TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 15 BETTING PREVIEW

Things start with the first-category Col de Peyresourde (6.7km at 8%) right from the flag drop and the next two climbs are very steep, the Col de Menté (9.3 km at 9%) and the Col de Portet-d'Aspet (4.3km at 10%).

Then there is a long flat section - where a breakaway likely will continue to build up their lead - taking the riders to the Col D'Agnes (10km at 8.2%) and the Port de Lers (3.8km at 5.5%). The latter crests with 50 km  to go, as a long descent take us to the the final ascent of Plateau de Beille (15.8km at 7.9%).

Plateau de Beille is a tough climb and the uphill finish will guarantee big time gaps.

Of course we will see GC action, but we are not sure that it wil count for the stage win.

Stage 15 Favourites

Saturday's stage showed that Pogacar is still stronger than Vingegaard, but this is a stage that would normally favour the Dane. The lead of the Slovenian is of 1:57 minutes, hence Vingegaard will surely try to regain time.

If GC contenders' teammates have enough energies to keep the breakaway under control, Tadej Pogaçar and Jonas Vingegaard will obviously fight for the stage win.

Other GC contenders can't keep the pace this duo have every time they go full gas, including third-placed Remco Evenepoel. The Belgian can be the winner only in the following scenario: the Top 2 don't care about other riders and Evenepoel take advantage from this tactical approach.

Other riders that can follow Evenepoel are Carlos Rodriguez, Giulio Ciccone, Mikel Landa, Derek Gee, Santiago Buitrago and Felix Gall.

Dark horses from a breakaway?

UAE team-mates Joao Almeida and Adam Yates will stay with their captain Pogaçar this timee around, so probable candidates in case of a winning breakaway are Wout Poels, Enric Mas, Jai Hindley, David Gaudu,  Romain Bardet, Simon Yates; Matteo Jorgenson, and Richard Carapaz.

Looking for more long-shots?

We mention Guillaume Martin, Javier Romo, Egan Bernal, Chris Harper, Ben Healy, Carlos Verona, Louis Meintjes and Tobias Johannessen.Stage 15 - Tour De France 2024
