TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 3 BETTING PREVIEW
Stage 3 of the 2022 Tour de France lacks any major difficulties as it is on less exposed roads than the day before.
The long run-in on the ring road is tailormade for sprint trains to line up and reel in any last attackers, if necessary.
Anyway, three categorised climbs feature on this stage route – and there is 1 polka dot point available for the first up top on each summit.
The first climb is Koldingvej (1.4km, 4.4%), just 27km into the stage.
The second climb is at the 83km mark with Hejlsminde Strand (850m, 4.7%). It's followed by an intermediate sprint near the UNESCO World Heritage site of Christiansfeld.
Any eventual breakaway will likely make it beyond the third climb, Genner Strand (1.6km, 3.3%).
From here, the peloton should give chase as the race heads into the final kilometers.
Stage 3 Favourites
Fabio Jakobsen – who has ousted Mark Cavendish as Quickstep’s preferred Tour sprinter – won the first bunch sprint of this Tour de France edition and is the favorite #1 for another stage win.Wout Van Aert and Mads Pedersen finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in Nyborg and are expected to be in the mix also on Sunday.
Jasper Philipsen also contested the first sprint but took the lead too early and ultimately finished 5th, one place behind Danny Van Poppel who looked particularly brilliant.
Caleb Ewan and Dylan Groenewegen disappointed on Saturday but will have the perfect opportunity to be contenders in a more traditional sprint.
Any possible surprise?
Peter Sagan, Hugo Hofstetter, Luca Mozzato and Jeremy Lecroq finished in the Top 10 on Saturday but they are unlikely to finish on the podium in Sønderborg. The Italian youngster Alberto Dainese crashed in the final three kilometers yesterday and is unlikely to be 100% fit here while Alexander Kristoff, Bryan Coquard,Maximilian Walscheid and Matthieu Van Der Poel will have Top 10 ambitions at maximum.
