TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 6 BETTING PREVIEW

TAfter a historic day for Mark Cavendish on Wednesday, who upset the odds and won his record-breaking 35th TDF stage in his incredible career, another bunch sprint is on the card on Thursday.

With almost no elevation to speak of, save for a 1.6km cat 4 climb in the first 10km of the stage, the sprinters’ teams won’t want to waste what could be their last chance to win a stage before the Tour’s first Rest Day.

The finish is in Dijon is not particularly tricky. After a long gentle right-hand turn, the final straight is about 1.5km long. The finale is ideal for showcasing a powerful lead-out, though it's unclear how well the organization will prepare the roundabout about 800 meters from the finish to secure rider’s safety.

Stage 6 Favourites

Mark Cavendish shocked the world in Stage 5. His team delivered him to the line where he launched his winning sprint like the good old days. Wednesday's sprint was reminiscent of him at his very best, can he take more wins?

Just beaten by Cavendish was Jasper Philipsen. His team did extremely well to position him well in the final kilometre After being involved in the late crash on stage four, Philipsen looked to have recovered well and could have regained confidence.

Third on stage five was Alexander Kristoff, although he crashed with 28km to go. If he can deliver a similar performance, he could also improve his placement.

Mads Pedersen crashed at the end of Stage 5 and his physical conditions are unclear. Fabio Jakobsen has record a sixth place on stage four and a fifth place on stage five, but he should remain out of the Top 3.

Arnaud De Lie and Dylan Groenewegen are two riders with podium ambitions. They have good leadout and, despite recording a Top 10 placement in both sprints, they have been a bit unlucky.

Other riders to watch include Biniam Girmay, winner of the first chaotic bunch sprint, and the current leader of the Tour’s Points competition, plus Sam Bennett, Fernando Gaviria and Bryan Coquard.
