TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 7 BETTING PREVIEW

Friday's stage is a relative easy stage that features one easy climb with almost 40 kilometres to go.

The final two kilometers will virtually be completely straight, only with a couple of roundabouts to stretch things out before the finish line.

However it might be a difficult day as well. Temperatures will go over 30 degrees throughout the whole afternoon into Bordeaux and and crosswinds are not excluded throughout the day.

GC contenders will have to pay maximum attention, maybe someone can lose ground (including sprinters) but we expect a bunch sprint in Bordeaux.

Stage 7 Favourites

Jasper Philipsen is by far the fastest man at the moment. He won the first two sprints, courtesy of a perfect lead out by his team, Alpecin-Deceuninck. Without errors or problems, he looks hard to beat.

Caleb Ewan will be Philipsen's main rival. The Aistralian has already confirmed he has the legs to win a stage at the Tour, despite he is aging. Eventual tailwinds will not play in his favour.

In fact, the tailwind may favour heavier sprinters rather than Philipsen and Ewan, so riders such as Phil Bauhaus, Mads Pedersen and Alexander Kristoff may have increased chances.

The Bora Hans-Grohe duo Danny Van Poppel and Jordi Meeus are other two riders that can be considered genuine contenders while Fabio Jakobsen and Dylan Groenewegen have been struggling quite a lot this year. We would be surprised to see one of them winning in Bordeaux.

Wout Van Aert finished yesterday's stage exhausted after being in the breakaway since the first meter and helping Vingegaard on the final climb. The Belgian may not have enough energies to compete with well-rested sprinters. Stage 8 will be ideal for WVA.

Mark Cavendish won the last time the Tour finished in Bordeaux, back in 2010. The Brit finished 5th and 6th in the first two bunch sprints and will target a Top 3 placement here.

Dark horses?

Honestly we don't expect big surprises here. Anyway, the likes of Luca Mozzato, Bryan Coquard, Sam Welsford, Peter Sagan, Corbin Strong and Biniam Girmay have the potential to grab a Top 5 placement.
