Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier: Betting Preview
Conor McGregor has a career record of 22-4, with 19 knockouts. He is coming off a first-round knockout of Donaldo Cerrone 12 months ago, while the previous fight saw him losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov by submission. McGregor's only other defeat in the UFC was against Nate Diaz. Notable scalps for the Notorious include Josè Aldo (beaten in 13 seconds), Chad Mendez, Eddie Alvarez and Nate Diaz (in the rematch).
Dustin Porier has won six of his last seven fights, with an overall record of 26-6 as a pro MMA fighter. He won the interim UFC Lightweight Championship in April 2019 by beating Max Holloway by unanimous decision. Ultimately, he came up short when getting his shot at the belt as Khabib Nurmagomedov, who had beaten McGregor 11 months before with the same rear-naked choke. His only other loss at 155lbs cam at the hands of Michael Johnson. Since losing to McGregor in 2014, Poirier has gone 10-2 with one no contest, winning the interim lightweight belt vs Max Holloway and beating current interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje and former champions Anthony Pettis and Eddie Alvarez.
These two fighters two originally met all the way back at UFC 178 in September 2014, where McGregor walked away with a first-round TKO victory. After that bout, the American moved up to compete in the UFC’s 155-pound category where he has enjoyed tremendous success in the past six years. Many MMA experts believe "the Diamond" has improved enough to change the outcome.
McGregor vs Poirier 2 Odds & Price BoostsConor McGregor is heavy favorite to add another major scalp to his resume, with bookmaker 888sport pricing the Irishman at 4/11. Unibet are offering the best price on Poirier to win (12/5).

Our McGregor vs Poirier Predictions
Given McGregor’s cardio issues and poor skills on the ground, his best chance of winning the fight is to stop him. The Irishman has never been knocked out or beaten on the cards so we can't see Poirier outscoring him or outclass him in striking.
Despite Poirier's improvements, we believe McGregor will end the match courtesy of his powerful left hand. "Mystic Mac" has predicted he'll win this fight inside 60 seconds but we would back a McGregor win in Round 2 or 3.
