- Written by David Bet
The 19th stage of the Tour de France, the second day in the Alps, runs on a 126.5 kilometres course from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to Tignes. Who will wear the yellow jersey at the end of the day? Don't miss our Tour De France STAGE 19 betting preview, best odds, betting tips on Winner & Head to Head, bookie offers & no deposit free bets.
From the summit, which is the race's final point-bonus, the route drops for 28km towards Bourg St Maurice. From there, riders are required to climb the final ascent to Tignes, 7.4 kilometres at 7% plus 2 kilometres of false flat.
There are good chances we will see two races for the price of one, the breakaway race and the General Classification race.
As for the GC, Thibaut Pinot is the rider to watch. The Frenchman has a home in Tignes and regularly trains at altitude around the resort.
After a poor Tour De France, Nairo Quintana surprisingly soloed to victory on stage 18 and strongly returned to be a serious GC contenders. The Colombian earned more than 5 minutes and now trails the Yellow Jersey by less than 4 minutes.
Egan Bernal looks sure to launch a challenge having been very brilliant on the Galibier. Reigning champion Geraint Thomas also looked stronger than most of his rivals and we expect a strong perfomance from the Welshman.
Mikel Landa might have something left and could benefit from the fact that Movistar is the strongest team this year. Rigoberto Uran's form is improving day by day and could be the surprise package of the day.
Richie Porte, Emanuel Buchmann and Steven Kruijswijk are other strong climbers, but don't consider them as real contenders for the stage win. The same applies for Bauke Mollema.
Julian Alaphilippe will not have the benefit of a descent here to recover any time lost on the climb and could struggle to mantain a 1'30" lead to stay in yellow.
Sam Bennett crashed twice and came in 11 minutes down on Stage 18. He can be overlooked.
As for breakaway candidates, we would mention Vincenzo Nibali (who has taken a day of rest on Thursday), Warren Barguil, Pello Bilbao, Fabio Aru, Dan Martin, Giulio Ciccone and Simon Yates.
The likes of Lennard Kamna, Michael Woords, Alexey Lutsenko and Romain Bardet will be probably be tired after the exhausting breakaway on Thursday.

TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 19 BETTING PREVIEW
This is a short and explosive mountain stage. The Souvenir Henri Desgrange - a cash prize of €5,000 given to the first rider to summit the highest point in any Tour de France - is on offer at the top of the Col de L'Iseran, an irregular climb of 12.9 kilometres. The average slope sits at 7.5%, but the penultimate kilometre before the top goes up at double digit gradients. From the summit, which is the race's final point-bonus, the route drops for 28km towards Bourg St Maurice.
