TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 19 BETTING PREVIEW

Just like Stage 18, Stage 19 kicks off with climbing right from the gun - the Cat. 1 Col de Chaussy (15.4km, 6.3%). Then, after 60 kilometres, the long climb up to the Col de la Croix de Fer (22.4km at 6.9%) begins. After the summit of Col de la Croix de Fer comes a descent into the short, Cat. 2 Col du Mollard (5.7km at 6.8%). From there it’s a a long downhill that will bring the peloton to the foot of the La Toussuire (18km, 6.1%) climb, the final ascent of the day.

After two very difficult days racing in the Alps, this will be a day where there is the potential for large time gaps due to the severity of the climbs. There are more kilometres of climbing between St Jean de Maurienne and La Toussuire than any other stage – 61.5km in total.

Since this stage is only 138km long, we believe it is likely to be won by one of the GC favourites. Chris Froome will not ride offensive and he didn't look brilliant in stage 18 like he was during the first 10 days of the Tour. In fact, the Brit usually fades in the final week while Quintana traditionally becomes stronger and stronger. The Colombian is the only that can break the yellow jersey at the moment.

Alejandro Valverde is the other GC contender who has shownsigns of weakness during stage 18 and that was no major surprise as he has always suffered a bit on the very long climbs. We believe that Quintana will use the Spaniard to isolate Froome.

Alberto Contador has tried to go on the move in the Alps already, but he can’t quite get any separation. Anyway, the Tinkoff-Saxo captain will likely try a long-distance attack and could find in Vincenzo Nibali an important allied.

If a breakaway makes it, the names are more or less the same: Joaquim Rodriguez, Pierre Rolland, Adam Yates, Warren Barguil, Damiano Caruso, Samuel Sanchez, Rafal Majka, Tanel Kangert, Winner Anacona, Rigoberto Uran, Jakob Fuglsang and Laurens Ten Dam.

Riders from 6th to 15th position of the GC will probably mark each other so we don't expect Bardet, Mollema, Frank, Gesink and Talansky to be involved in a breakaway.

Actually, most of these riders could be very tired after yesterday's long breakaway so the main scenario could see team Movistar and Tinkoff make the race very tough from early stages.
