TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 21 BETTING PREVIEW

Stage 20 is only 109.5km long, it starts in Sèvres and then rides about 40km into Paris, where they begin ten laps of an urban circuit, finishing on the Champs-Elysées.

The riders will reach the finishing city circuit after just 39.5km of racing and have to complete 10 laps of the 6.85km circuit that brings them up and down the famous avenue.

The last stage of the Tour is always fairly chaotic on the final circuit, with speeds regularly at the 50-kilometre mark. It is crucial to be well positioned into the last left-right s-bend with about 500 meters to go. A great leadout can make the difference in this difficult corner.

Bookmakers expect a two-horse race between Cavendish and Greipel even if they are heavily fatigued after for stages on the Alps.

Andre Greipel has proven to be the best pure sprinter in this year’s Tour but he lost his important leadout rider Greg Henderson early in the race. However, he still has Adam Hansen, Marcel Sieberg and Jens Debusschere at his side.

Mark Cavendish has won this stage four years in a row from 2009 to 2012 and would love to end his 2015 Tour with an unprecedented fifth victory on the Champs-Élysées. Anyway, the Etixx-QuickStep team has lost a lot of horsepower as Tony Martin, Michal Kwiatkowski and Mark Renshaw are no longer there.

This means that Katusha have a stronger leadout for their sprinter Alexander Kristoff. The Norwegian is usually one of the freshest at the end of a grand tour which was evident last year when he nearly beat Kittel in this sprint.

Peter Sagan has again won the Green Jersey (Points Classification) but he is still chasing that elusive stage win. He can never be counted out, especially after a few days in the mountains that might have softened the legs of his rivals.

Arnaud Démare, Bryan Coquard, Tyler Farrar, John Degenkolb and Edvald Boasson Hagen will probably fight for a top-5 finish but we don't expect them to make the podium.

For other fast finishers with a chance today, look to Ramunas Navardauskas, Zdenek Stybar and Michael Matthews. These three riders have no chances in case of bunch sprint, but could try to surprise the peloton in the final lap.
